Non Conference Schedule Released

Eight teams, including UConn, will play in the Pink Flamingo championship in the Bahamas Nov 25/27. So far, we know LSU and NC State will also be there.

LSU? Well we now know that at least two other teams will be S.W. Nobody State, and Sister Mary’s School for the Blind! Both will be aligned in the bracket with Mulky’s program!

Which means the second game for UConn will be against NC State barring upsets. That works.

Good list of opening games before Thanksgiving Break. Competitive but not crazy competitive.
Smart considering the question marks around availability at the start of the season. We are only 70 days out from the first exhibition game. Coming up quickly.

.-.
I want to see UCONN vs LSU so bad. Yeah, it's not as fun without Reese on that team, but forcing Mulkey to play an actual competitive team in her OOC would be satisfying as hell.

With the way the committee handled the strength of schedule fiasco, giving LSU a three seed, the same as UConn will now give other teams the idea of it's OK to have a SOS of 280+ before going into Conference play. There should be a definitive penalty for playing such a horrendous schedule. Maybe not giving a team a top 4 seeding to punish the school by making them travel to one of the 16 sites for the first and second round.

Very funny. Those no-name teams will probably have already been softened up by Brenda and her ferocious MD Twerps--or will be, as she pads her schedule.
Can't we have a rule against cruelty to wcb teams who are not good? How 'bout a mercy rule?
We can probably eliminate entire conferences. I can think of one . . .

Eight of UConn's 2024-25 non-conference opponents competed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Seven opponents finished the 2023-24 season ranked in the top 36 of the NCAA NET Rankings: No. 1 South Carolina, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 10 USC, No. 24 Louisville, No. 26 Tennessee, No. 31 Iowa State and No. 36 North Carolina.

I'm surprised at the number of years since UCONN played some of these teams. There are five teams that UCONN has not played for between 11 and 14 years, including two "local" teams (BU and Holy Cross).

The article referred to the North Carolina game (who they have not played in 13 years) being played on a "neutral" court in Greensboro. That's almost like saying the game against Iowa State at Mohegan Sun is on a neutral court, or the game at the Civic Center (oops, XL Center) against USC is on a neutral court.

One of the BU coaches is Coach Insel, who had been an assistant under Carla Berube at Tufts. Perhaps Geno is doing a favor for a friend.

From the NCAA (and committee) standpoint, the Mohegan Sun games are neutral court games.

The XL center is a secondary home court so those games are Home.

Are the Nov 15th Greensboro tickets for sale anywhere. I probably have a party of 4 johnsing for this game in my hometown.

I hope that they have a decent gym in the Bahamas for this Pink Flamingo thing. Unlike that tiny box that was used in the Caymans last year.

Not yet, but you can complete a UNC ticket "interest form". I think they let you know when tickets are available.

Lemme go ahead and sign up :rolleyes:

I hope the game starts at a normal time.

Thanks Nan. Do you know if UConn gets any tickets to sell for road games?
I could be wrong but i believe visiting teams get some kind of allotment. At UConn, it’s usually a corner section, not the best seats

Well, most schools have such poor attendance that you can move around. UConn fans have it tougher than most visitors because it’s a bigger thing when they come to town and they bring more of their own fans, Nevertheless, few schools sell out and you can pickup decent tickets that are not part of the allotment. Still, I prefer to sit “with my own kind” so I can yell, scream and stomp.

The newfound interest/publicity for wbb may alter things. I hope the TV interest from last year’s tournament leads to an increase in attendance across the board. WBB needs a poster gal like Paige to fuel the interest of the new fans.

The Big East announced their men's basketball schedule today, when are they going to release the women's schedule?

@Blueconn Last season's schedule was announced on September 28th, while the men's was announced on the 15th, so...

I wouldn't be surprised if the media is putting pressure on LSU to play UConn. I checked on the tournament and it's 2 games with a day off in between. That's a lot better than 3 games in 3 days.

The tournament can also be a rehearsal for the 3 weekends of the NCAA's. Game. Day off. Game.

I'd be happy and excited to play NC St

When are they supposed to announce the tournament schedule? We are closely approaching near 2 months from the tournament. I believe ND was supposed to also be there.

Two more teams have announced they'll be part of the tournament in the Bahamas: Oregon State and Washington.

That's 5 of the 8, including UConn, LSU and NC State,

A story out of Oregon indicated that Oregon State would be part of the 4-team bracket that includes UConn:

Oregon State has a chance to play 11-time national champion Connecticut in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, November 25-27 at Nassau, Bahamas. It is a four-team tournament, with two teams still to be determined. Matchups will be announced once the field is filled.

Time will tell if this is accurate.

Oregon St unfortunately won't be the same given how much they lost, not even the same program anymore sadly with the conference realignment and fall out from that.

Hopefully a scenario sets up for either NC St or LSU, at least being one of the games depending on how the brackets shape out

Not foo familiar with Washington

Washington has a good class next season, not this.

Not sure if they lost anyone really good.

Anyone have a sense of NC St's starting lineup without Baldwin and Collins? The guard corps looks to be intact (no injuries), so Hayes James Brooks and Rivers. A slew of big freshmen in the front court: Trygger Williamson, Awou, and Weimar returns. That's a lot of big bodies for Jana Sarah and Ice to contend with.
