No respect for 20-21 basketball squad

Still need one more solid piece I think. Either a 3/stretch 4 or pure big man.

PG: Cole, Gaffney
SG: Bouknight, Adams
SF: Jackson, Polley
PF: Whaley, Springs
C: Carlton, Ferguson

We are good 1-3. Need either a 3/stretch 4 that allows Whaley to play the 5 or an offensive big man that allows Whaley to play the 4 without suffering on offense.

I think Johnson is that guy

UConn #34 in seth davis' top 35

I'd say that's reasonable. We have a few good pieces (Cole, Gaffney, Bouknight, Jackson, Whaley) but I think there's too many question marks to be top 25 as of right now.
How will BA contribute this year?
Is Springs ready to make an impact as a freshman?
Will Polley return to his old form?
What will we get out of Carlton/Ferguson?

We also lost are two of our best on ball defenders and post defender and our best offensive player. our back court defense is going to be much worse to start, but hopefully, they can improve as the season progress.

How many expect this team to be a preseason top 25? I don't unless we add a big piece. I think it's fair that most have us somewhere in the top 40-50.

I have us outside the top 25 to start the season, for sure. If we start off winning and can keep it rolling, we can crack the top 25. I'd be super happy if we did that. The closest we got this year was 1 vote, landing us in the group of teams that gets listed AFTER the top 25.

Tell me about it! From what I've seen and heard, a starting backcourt of Cole/Gaffney/Bouk might be one of the top 2-3 offensively in the BE, but the worst defensively! That's what leads mean to believe Jackson might start at the 3. We might have to have either BA or Jackson on the floor at all times for perimeter defense.

To be top 25 you need to sweep some opponents. Which Big East teams are you confident of defeating on the road next year?No more Tulane or East Carolina.

Are you writing Akok off for the season or considering him as a low minute nonfactor?

Andy Katz on some Doug Gottlieb-ish- member how much Gottlieb hated UConn and the Big East? he would always pump Up the boring big 10. Billy packer was same way. That’s ok. This could be based on the fact that they’re not expecting akok back next year or polley to be full throttle. But still - We’re not at least top 30-35? Cmon

i was so happy when packer stopped doing broadcasts. you could hear the disappointment in his voice in 99 and 04 when we beat duke. now if only vitale would retire.

I’m considering him unlikely to play at all. I know he’s optimistic but that’s a terrible injury to return from.

This April 9th article lists UConn among "5 Who Just Miss the (Top 25) Cut"

As you can see below, it is not updated to include Martin, regards Bouknight "Wait and see," and projects Akok as a starter.

"Way too early..." sounds about right.

Yeah our 5 position is wack unless Carlton turns it around

All I am saying is that this conference will not be easy and maybe expectations should be calmed down a little.
Who thinks the conference will be easy? It might be the best conference in the country. I'm looking at all the potential big wins we could have in the conference next season, you seem to be looking at all the potential big losses we could have.
