No Polley?:
UConn could be without the services of senior Tyler Polley, who has struggled in his first three games after undergoing season-ending knee surgery last January. Hurley seemed to indicate Polley’s absence isn’t due to his knee, but instead, “some other issue that will be disclosed (Sunday).”

I think they realized his miracle recovery was literally too good to be true and he needs more time. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Akok pushed back now.

That's good you won't be surprised about Akok being pushed back considering Hurley stated earlier this week Akok's timeline is being pushed to the right.

He’s the one who tested positive that resulted in the pause.
Ok, but if the team is cleared I don't understand how that results in him sitting out; I guess we will find out today.

Watching Kevin Durant a few days ago I am hopeful Akok can make a similar return to form! I was also struck at how similar their builds are.

Umm, KD is listed at 240 lbs and is a legit 6'10" - 6'11".

Akok is 6'9" and about 215-220 lbs.

Polley did test positive but 3 days later he was already negative. Maybe he wasn’t able to practice though? Similar to Springs earlier in the season.

Pretty sure the comparison was based on them suffering the same injury, not being similar players.

Hurley already mentioned Akok is being pushed back.

The two layoffs have also set back Akok Akok, who is recovering from a ruptured Achilles suffered last season. Originally expected to be ready to return around Jan 1, Akok likely won’t be ready until further into the new year.

In fairness Durant measured 6’9” without shoes and 215 lbs at the combine. Also posted zero reps on the bench press...

Yeah. That was pretty amazing.

Not so much that bench press even matters, but I mean. It’s 185 pounds (nfl is 225) and he had like 6 weeks to train for it.

Do we have any update on Akok? I haven’t been paying attention lately.
I guess not because there are two posts in this thread, by me and Chin Diesel, with an update on Akok. What else are you looking for? Are you looking for a doctor's review of his condition?

A lot of NBA players can't bench 185 lbs.

Whatever the reason he's being held out today, I'm always amazed at how fast these kids are rushed back from ACL and achilles tears compared to the pros. It's hella reckless.

The incentives are absurdly different for both the player and the organization.

NBA player: gets paid regardless
NCAA player: gets nothing, needs to play in order to get drafted

NBA org.: building a super team with a small window, better to get 3 superstar years than 4 compromised years; long season and resting for playoffs is a thing
NCAA org.: short season means if you don't integrate a player early, it's a lost year; limited years of eligibility

So, 700 guys cover the team, but nothing yesterday (or today) about this?

I read in the Register this morning that he was held out related to the COVID protocol.
