“@DaveBorges: Omar Calhoun, Rakim Lubin, Dan Guest and Marcel Lewis suspended from tonight's game due to violation of team rules.”

“@DaveBorges: The players' status will be re-evaluated after the game and UConn's return home.”

No Lubin hurts for depth purposes, it goes without saying that the frontcourt really can't get into foul trouble.

Smells like a curfew violation on a Sat night in Puerto Rico. Hopefully not more than that.

Interesting. Hope its nothing too serious.

We will be thin at the 4 spot now against a team that really hits the boards. More small-ball? Rebounding was already somewhat of an issue.

Legal drinking age in PR is 18. Hope the team wasn't out drinking!

Let me get this straight: Omar was medically cleared to play tonight and he is now suspended for violation of team rules?

Good God, Omar. Not too bright for any of these guys, but really, really stupid for a junior who is seeking to avoid irrelevance.

no omar was just out too late, probably would have been unavailable anyway due to the mcl.

Got it. Thanks. Still not too bright, but less dim I suppose.

It's dim if he had Lubin with him. Mess up on your own when you can't play, that's one thing. Drag a freshman down with you on his first college road trip, that's pretty much poor leadership in a nutshell.

We don't know the details and probably never will. They could have been out separately, or they could have been just a minute or two late, and KO had a "zero tolerance" policy in place on this trip, for fear of what college kids can get into in a tropical paradise with legal drinking and gambling. I've known many coaches who would use being 2 minutes late for curfew as a chance to send a message about responsibility.

I also wouldn't want to be one of those walk ons. You get a trip to PR on UConn's dime and get in trouble? Not a good way to stay a walk on.

All four of those players should look up the word "expendable" and then spend the hours between now and the team's arrival back on campus hoping and praying.

Couldn't agree more.

Between his awful season, injuries and a lot of good guards on the roster Omar is not making smart choices.

Assuming Omar wasn't healthy enough to play, it's hard to fault him too much if he was out late. Hard to abide by curfew rules in Puerto Rico when you can't do anything to help the team. But if he was cleared to play and he still ignored the rules...that's really disappointing. Lubin, also, should not be scouring around KO's dog house when he's already on the edge of the rotation.
