we are going to see the KK, Shade, Chen, Azzi, Paige lineup again at some point. Small ball. Lots of small ball. Hopefully we can compete on the glass.

Well that stinks! Shoulder knocked Patterson out for the season, sending good vibes Ice’s way.

Tennessee is a guard-oriented team. On the one hand, less reliance on the post, on the other hand, Ice runs the floor really well, so she’d be good against the run-and-gun.

Ice was a big loss tonight. She showed last season that she can turn it on when she is needed. Geno needs to be as committed to Jana and Ice as he is to KC. I think she is a gritty player but her skills are not at the same level as the other players on the court and against good players it really show. She leaves it all out there but sometimes hustle and effort isn't enough.

Opportunity for Jana..... she needs to step up and have a good game....!
Jana can benefit from the work over the next couple games but I think that will largely be the end of the Jana experiment for this year. She doesn't get a whole lot done on either offense or defense, and Brady is somewhat more versitile. Jana can still play an important role in certain matchups, e.g. UCLA but it has become pretty clear that best bet for March is going small. Arguably, our most productive lineup, including defense and rebounds, is KK, Paige, Azzi, Strong and Griffin. Chen can rotate with KK without losing too much. Ash can rotate with Azzi, and Brady/ Jana for Griffin with some fall off. Chelli, Allie, and Q each have something to add but I don't think we will see too much of them in March unless one (Alli) breaks out as a shooter in addition to other things they do well. Ash has been disappointing in big games but still makes the 8 man rotation. Training camp is over and we have to settle into an 8/9 or fewer rotation and optimize that

This injury is Aubrey's opportunity to step in for Ice.
That's what bench depth is about.
When one door closes another opens.
Last year Ice got a lot of opportunity to play for Jana & Aubrey due to their injuries.
Now it's their turn to fill for in for Ice while she's injured.
Hopefuly it's not a season ending injury for her.

Jump in the air and fall down on the hard surface; natural instinct is to put your arm down to break the impact. All of that momentum and force has the potential to injure wrists, break arms, and damage shoulders.

No idea how it really happened, but there are plenty of ways that you can get hurt. Hopefully she will recover quickly. Wish her the best!

Sounds likes she’ll miss more than tonight’s game.

This hurts. It cost Paterson the season. ICE is far better than Jana, even though she is still emerging. They both are. And at a snails pace.

The problem last night was simple: add up all the gimmes that UConn missed (yes, lay-ups), and we'd have won by 20. I was extremely angry and disappointed. This wasn't Paige's fault. She missed a bunny or two, but many were guilty. I'm afraid we're developing Terp Syndrome: we win the easy games and lose those that count the most. Not Husky culture.

Ouch. Tough loss. Hopefully a few days of rest and some rehab, Ice is able to get back out there to play. Get well, Ice. Rest and recovery will be huge.

FYI, I am sitting in the arena in Providence watching UConn warm up. Ice is watching also, with her left arm in a sling.

They did say "week to week", and the first week hasn't passed yet.

I’m totally lost when people seem to believe Ice changes the game or would make a huge difference when playing. Look at her stats . She shoots a good % but barely averages 3 shots a game. She’s great at passing the ball out but on averages has less than 2 assists a game . She’s not drawing fouls like inside players do and averages 3 rebounds a game and averages less than a half block a game . I’m being serious when I ask what am I missing ? I’d try to develop El Alfy while her game is more old school is still think between the two this is the player who has more potential if you develop her

If Ice has her arm in a sling, that's not good.

numbers are low because she gets so few minutes. Her per 40 stats look a little better.

You're missing that Brady is a better (more skilled) player at this stage of the development of a very raw Jana. if you want to talk ceiling, you may have an argument for Jana, but its late in the season to be talking ceiling versus what you can see on the Court for this year

Ice and Jana largely interchangable at this point. I hate injuries, but Ice out now gives Jana a chance for a bit more play and learning.

I haven't forgotten that Ice gave us a nice run of play last year in BE tourney and NCAA. We will still need both in critical games in March, even simply absorbing some fouls against talented front court players.

Wishing for speedy healing.
