I too was at Dave Righetti's no hitter July 4th, 1983. And @Waquoit, if you remember it was Yankee Cap Day as well on a very hot afternoon game.. Rough for a Red Sox fan like myself and 2 buddies. The other two with us were Yankee fans. But after the pain wore off, I realized how fortunate I was to witness a no-hitter.
Because the sun was frying the back of my neck. I used the cap to block it. So technically I wore a Yankee cap. I paid the price.

Whether 6-6 or 10-2 I don't think the quality of the bowl game will go up much. It's not like a good record will get us a conferences 2nd or 3rd best bowl. All the bowls have tie ins with conferences. They only give up the lowest bowl they have if enough teams from their conference don't qualify. The benefit of being 10-2 is if multiple conferences have open slots then it's more likely a better bowl of what's available will pick us up. So basically it's the better of the worst bowl of each conference with an open slot.

No team has made a bowl game with 3 wins. We gotta add on a few before we worry about this.
Not an optimist or pessimist but a realist, let the optimists have their day. ;)
Don't know but our last bowl game in South Carolina was a little over 12,000.
Yes, I was there and we were out numbered 10 to 1 or more as we were up against a local team. The problem in today's world is the school has to suck up a certain amount of tickets. Thus not being in a conference UConn loses money going to a bowl.

I don’t think that is true anymore. That requirement changed a while ago.

Hmmm...I was there and it seemed like 2 to 1 (Marshall vs UConn fans.) Maybe it was 10 to 1 but that's not my recollection.

We will not get a "good" bowl until we travel with a "good" crowd. $$$$ matter to bowl sponsors.

with the meaninglessness that has become the FBS bowl system, I would almost be more willing to just divide the football post-season into FBS A & B, each having its own set of CFPlayoff bowls + at-large bowls. Take the peasant bowls and roll them into the "FBS-B" playoff bracket.

Still 1 single NCAA D1 FBS division
Same CFP committee, 2 different championships (think - NCAAT + NIT)
G5 cinderella still gets to go to the big dance, every year.

I'd rather have a path to play a real post-season, for something meaningful that we had to grind to get, than a stupid bowl against a MAC school, that no one shows up for.

we could win out and go 10-2 or 9-3, just to play in the "joe's bail bonds bowl" against South Alabama or Eastern Michigan.

I was there too. Defintely wasn't 10 to 1. They were packed full but we were a solid travel. I felt 2 or 3 to 1.

I think Connecticut should "value price" our bowl tickets to induce people to buy through the school. At this stage selling out, our allotment is more important than making a profit..

Yes technically, but more often than not it becomes a non issue with more bowl games than eligible participants. If they got a bowl game in 2021 at 6-6, they likely should not have a problem getting one with the same (or likely/hopefully better) record.
And hence the Participation Trophy Syndrome was born. Bowl Games “Were” great at one point, a reward for a long season. Today, mediocrity at 6-6 is rewarded without the “reward” being relevant anymore.

The entire system is broken.

I want to see these players, coaches, and fans to see a bowl game. I don't care what game it is, but they are playing like they want one badly. You all need to stop with the negative bullcrap.

Lets win tomorrow, and approach the next week after tomorrow. The team will learn something new. I learn something new everyday - I can't wait for tomorrow! But don't skip over what you need to learn tomorrow or you will simply be a dreamer who looks back and wishes they had a different path because they were too distracted with what might have been! ...so right now -I am just going to FOCUS- I don't care about a bowl game... I want to see tomorrow's game and enjoy this ride on this Husky Sled! Next stop - Mile Marker: Temple, when: tomorrow - Results Coming soon - stay tuned to find out!
