No AAC fans will be allowed at tournament

I think we knew this was coming. I support it. A few days ago I was seriously thinking about going, since DFW is one of the very few places I can fly to directly. But i gave up on that idea by Monday.

Really a great call by these tournaments. It’s horrible in Italy right now and it’s going to get real bad here. Basketball wise, this is big for our matchup against Wichita State (assuming we get there). Only 300 miles from Wichita campus. Woulda been a home game for them compared to us.

Wow. The thing that I cannot believe is that people took off work, already bought tickets and traveled to these locations just to be told the night before they cannot attend. Will they be fully refunded?
No info as of now but I assume it’ll be similar to March Madness where those are getting refunded and expect money back within 30 days.

.-.
Will they pipe in crowd noise every time something big happens, with the volume adjusted according to each team's home distance from the venue?

So this could play out as well for us as anyone. We're the farthest from home, and since we're lame ducks in the AAC, we're probably fan's least favorites.

OTOH, we don't seem to play very well in the total absence of crowd energy...

I think this is good news for UConn. Furthest school from the location and if there’s any coach that can create energy for his team in an empty arena its Dan Hurley
Damn good point. Dan is the loudest and best fan in the building every game. Could be pretty interesting to be able to hear what he's actually yelling at everyone!

It’s gonna be real strange to watch. I guess it’s coming attractions for the NCAA tournament.

You think the FCC will turn off the censor that long?

So nothing has changed from past AAC tournaments?

Interesting the Big East, located in the biggest danger zone, thus far hasn't announced anything.
Hearing they will be suspending fan attendance as well. ACC announced today as well.

If there’s no fans then there’s no one to police and criticize horrible officiating. More technicals called on coaching staffs trying to compensate for the lack of fans criticizing bad calls . Bad situation

Just looked at the EarthCam view of Times Square. Looks like no one there is too concerned.

The amount of profanities that Hurley usually screams will not go unheard due to a loud crowd, expect more T’s for sure.

Easier for him to get T'd up

This is a big hit financially for that league but the right decision.

All the conferences are going to keep fans out. ACC, Big 10, Big 12, and AAC have already said starting tomorrow no fans. Big East and Pac 12 will follow suit.

Apparently Jim Dolan was the only of the NBA owners that wanted to keep fans in. Might explain why the Big East is taking awhile to close it out to fans.

i was actually thinking early this is going to be a get out of jail free card for the refs in March. Not only no fans to hold them accountable, but I got to assume coaches will be told to tone it down due to TV audio and the TV announcers likely won’t be saying anything overly critical cause the refs will be able to hear them as well.

but on the other hand it’s going to be kind of cool to hear the coaches calling the action and the players communicating on the floor.

would obviously prefer to see the games played with great crowds on hand, but this will be a unique and (hopefully) once in a life time experience.

If there’s even a tournament this year. Smh
