NIT no Big East teams. Why?

Kinda surprised Georgia Tech is in there. Figured The Crown would take care of all ACC, B12 & BE teams worth a damn.

Bizarre scheduling. These teams will have not played a game since their conference tourneys nearly 3 weeks earlier - they're playing this tourney the week between the NCAA regional finals & Final Four (Mon-Thu), with the Crown semifinals the afternoon of Sat, April 5th (NCAA FF semis later that night) and the final on Sunday.

Interesting to see if this will actually have success with casual viewers in the midst of the big dance FF.

What's the appeal or point of this? Some pretty dreadful teams, 19 loss team...

How is a team without a coach like Nova going to participate in this?
Ed Pinkney and Dwayne McClain are going to return 40 years after their magical NCAA run to coach them to Crown Tourney glory.

The Crown promised to be a tournament with only schools from the best conferences. Too good for the mid majors. Then they invite the 8th best team from the A-10? They should be clowned for that

Surprised Central CT got no bids to either the Crown or NIT.
Used to be regular season conference champs that di not win their conference tourney automatically got an invite to the NIT.

This should be reinstated especially "The Crown" has scooped up 16 teams.

And CCSU? Did they get snubbed altogether? NIT/CBI. It used to be conference regular season champs who did not win their tourney and did not get a NCAA at large got auto bids to the NIT. However, I believe the NCAA owned NIT changed it to a ”formula.”

CCSU's conference is painfully weak, even weaker than it used to be since some of the NEC's teams have jumped and were replaced with some schools that just recently upgraded to Division I sports. That cripples their chances of any at-large bid for anything.

I don't believe the CBI or CIT have yet announced which teams are participating so I suppose there's a chance CCSU gets an invite to one of them.

It did. Unfortunately, the NIT has been on borrowed time ever since teams started declining invitations. And we're now seeing it become the CBI in real time. It simply cannot survive the NIL/portal era.

As for "The Crown," not only do I think it's going to succeed, but I think it will eventually replace the NCAA Tournament. The writing is all over the wall.
