I feel like I'm looking into my own future after meniscus and cartilage tears plus 2 acl sprains...

Wish Nika a speedy recovery. Tho if there's one thing we know about her, she ain't never giving up!

It’s also what teams choose to do. There are lots of pro sports teams in the U.S. where players have waived many of their HIPAA protections and injury news can be published quickly.

You might be, but there are plenty of people who had ACL surgery 35+ years ago, who are not looking at knee replacement anytime soon.

Who knows what advances will be made in 25 years. They are stimulating cartilage growth and they may get around to tendon generation with stem cells. Of course, you'll be transfering your house to them before you go under.

They are already repairing some ACL tears by regenerating the torn tendon. Known as Bridge-Enhanced ACL Restoration implant, or BEAR, the technique involves the use of an implant injected with the patient’s own blood to form a bridge between torn ends of an ACL. The collagen implant enables the body to heal the torn ligament by protecting it from the harsh environment in the knee joint. The implant is absorbed by the body, usually within eight weeks.

The procedure was first approved by the FDA about four years ago and has been used in a number of surgical centers, especially on adolescents and teens. Doctors state that when this procedure is used, the recovery time is faster.
 
Nika posted an inspirational message on Instagram after her ACL injury.

"Anyone that knows me knows I work my ass off all the time. This time isn’t gonna be any different," Muhl wrote on Instagram. "I appreciate all the love and support so much—y'all really make this easier for my heart.

"I am grateful for all the people around me that are true testaments of what belief and perseverance can achieve after being denied hooping. This is just another opportunity for me to compete, this time against myself. Not to be cocky, but that’s an easy W."

I think enough time has passed for me to articulate this observation. Was anyone else surprised that Nika exclamations of pain and concern were all in English? Is that the common language at the particular event she was at? It made her cries of distress resonate more with us, since they were understandable.
 
I think in most international sports, the most common language is English amongst the players, because that is the most common second language for non-English speakers
