That's true, but we're not going to need to find 5 starters in the portal. There's a good chance Solo Ball is starting at the 2, one or both of Ross and Stewart are starting on the wing, and Samson Johnson is our starting centerYou guys are placing a lot of hope on the portal, if Karaban goes we have to replace 5 starters
Ball sure sounds like the real deal, Johnson I gotta see it before I believe it. But we are banking on the other freshmen developing quick enough to start as sophomores, if they need longer that’s where we’re in troubleThat's true, but we're not going to need to find 5 starters in the portal. I would be pretty surprised if Alex left. I think we'll need a top point guard in the portal, I'm not comfortable having the reins handed over to a freshman or Diarra. I have trouble buying that Solo is a point guard or will become one quickly as someone else said here. That's true, but we're not going to need to find 5 starters in the portal. It really depends on how you view that season. The truth is that it's incredibly hard to run out final four level teams year after year. Sometimes you decide that you are just going to make the tournament with a higher seed while your young guys develop, and if they surprise you, they surprise you.I would be pretty surprised if Alex left. It's fun to speculate but we have a national championship to defend.
If Alex stays we’ll be in better shape but I think you can only pencil in him and Ball as starters right now at least.I would be pretty surprised if Alex left. Will be interesting to see if they recruit a top center for 2025Officially picked Dook

No thanks, I never want a Dookie on the roster.I look forward to Isaiah and Patrick teaming up at UConn for their sophomore seasons

Great is quite the stretch. We have used it to fill in holes. But this will be quite the jump. Hurley has shown the ability to adapt and I expect him to do the same here. You do realize that we have done great in the portal the last 2 years, right? We do not win the National Championship without the 4 additions last year... and this year we brought in one of the top 5 transferring guards who is going to be a starter on our pre-season top 10 team.
With this coaching staff... I am willing to place my faith in them that they will find most if not all of the missing pieces they believe we have going into next year in the portal. My question to you is... After their recent track record, you don't?
I think he’s done very well but I’d much rather have preferred if we could have recruited an Austin Swartz for multiple years than find a 2 guard in the portal. Who knows if he would have come here with a full court prioritization, but I wish we had gotten him.Great is quite the stretch. We have used it to fill in holes. But this will be quite the jump. We'll see this year. But Newton was objectively a great addition. I'd say Martin and Cole were damn good as well.Great is quite the stretch. We have used it to fill in holes. But this will be quite the jump. Hurley has shown the ability to adapt and I expect him to do the same here.
Same way Kentucky has the last 10 years. How can duke lose with that kind of talent?

When they do it will be so much fun to see!How can duke lose with that kind of talent?
Spencer is a great addition and Newton was last year as well. I think some of us are just saying we have a lot of needs to fill for next year if all starters are gone and it looks like 4 are at a minimum. What if the portal class is weak as some have said the high school class was? If we had another couple 4 stars coming in we’d have more options. We might need a Newton, Spencer and a starting Center next year in the portal. You do realize that we have done great in the portal the last 2 years, right? Eventually a team that starts 5 Freshman meets a team that has more experience, stronger, and almost as athletic. You can only teach Freshman so much in a year. When a team of Freshman get rattled they do what Freshman do. Start going one on one and take crazy shots. The only championship Kentucky won with all that talent was when their 5 stars came back for year 2.How can duke lose with that kind of talent?
How many games do we have on national TV or ESPN relative to Duke? How hyped are our games on the networks that drive sports media?Given all the obvious facts Duke is still piling up 5* and we are getting the next level. We are clearly the better program not even close since the turn of the century.
Duke has 0 games on the major broadcast newtorks. They do have 3 games on The CW. After that, they have 10 games for sure on ESPN, and 2 games for sure on ESPN2. And then another 7 that are flexed between ESPN/2/U, definitely some of which will end up on ESPN since they're Duke. The rest are ACC Network (11).AHow many games do we have on national TV or ESPN relative to Duke? How hyped are our games on the networks that drive sports media?
I'm also skeptical our NIL is as good as Duke's.
Here's the thing: if you're a one-and-done, you're only going to college because you have to. You want to be drafted highly and build a brand. Duke has more games on channels that people watch (as opposed to Fox Sports) and their conference is owned by the major sports network so they are always front and center.
The Big East is a fantastic basketball conference, and if you want to play great ball and develop into a pro when you are borderline, UConn looks like it's probably a better bet. If you have one year, why not be on TV constantly, talked about constantly, and play in the best rivalry the sport has (Duke-UNC). It's like you get the college experience squished into bite-sized form.
I don't think being on television matters with NBA teams; the scouts beat the bushes and know where the good players are regardless of conferences. In this year's draft, only one of the top ten had the kind of network exposure you describe. How many games do we have on national TV or ESPN relative to Duke? Yeah, I think we're going to disagree in terms of exposure. ESPN may be in a terminal decline, it seems, but for the time being they still control the sports narratives, particularly CBB. It's where the hype comes from, and if you're only doing one year, getting that narrative I think helps.Duke has 0 games on the major broadcast newtorks. They do have 3 games on The CW. We have 8* games this season on the major broadcast networks (7* Fox, 1 CBS). We have 11 games on FS1, which is in exactly as many households as ESPN, and 3 on FS2. We do have 2 on ESPN, 2 on ESPN2, 1 ESPNU. And 3 on CBS Sports Net.
I would argue we have more exposure this season than Duke.
