Ngongba Cuts UCONN

Well maybe you guys are right, but it does fit if Hurley wanted to accomplish both objectives.

UConn has done remarkably well with 4 stars and elevating them to national champions. We can live with that easier than the fans of teams with multiple 5 stars and losing.
 
I agree with all of this and didn’t mean any trouble by posting/sharing. I certainly also hope (and think) it’s not directed, but rather reaffirmation of his own mentality and methods. It has worked to make us elite again, and it’s what will separate the elite from the good as we talk about who suits up for us.

The NIL is certainly good but Hurley does not seem like the kind of guy to pay a ton for a recruit. Good for him, he has to worry about his own players reactions.

This ^^^ our bread & butter has always been high upside 4* top 75 kids, who are a bit unpolished at the start, but want to learn & develop over time.
 
If Clingan stays for junior year, or Samson Johnson develops into a star this year it doesn’t matter because we will have a great center next year. The position we most needed to recruit was a PG, and we recruited a great PG. There should be a talented group of wings and shooting guards to join them.
Also there are so many transfers now. There is plenty of time to add a player for next season.
This season we have a championship caliber team. we should be focusing on enjoying this season.

Ngongba is in a tough position no matter where he goes as the NBA doesn’t really want big men anymore unless they are really big 7’1 + or have guard skills. I can’t blame him if he just chased the biggest bag of money.

I can. Whatever reason he has I don’t really care. I’ll root against him the rest of his career. I hope he ends up in last place on a Turkish league team without a degree. The only players I wish well who aren’t on the team are former players who transferred due on good terms (Brendan Adam’s, Carlton etc.) or CT players that didn’t get recruited by UConn. I used to still root for all CT guys but not anymore.

I mean, his cousin is still coming. That and transfers happen a lot.

Ok Mumu ;) we have to do the things that makes us happy. Your action is innocent since you can feel good about your decision and those individuals you place your hatred upon continue to go about their lives completely unaffected. Win win.

Flagg just said the campus visit to Duke was an important factor. Taking Flagg to a UConn football game was a huge mistake. The person who made this decision should be fired. It cost us the best recruit in the country for the last several years.

Your point is well taken. My only retort is that a player that has a 'one and done' mentality does not have the same mentality as other players. To that end, I am a little worried about Castle's mentality this year. I wonder if he has ever been coached this way. I am not saying I would not want Patrick, or Cooper. I am only suggesting that UCONN has won more more titles over the last two decades polishing players over multiple years than Duke and Kentucky have won with 'one and done' players. I guess that's my point.

Josh and his dad did not leave on the best of terms with JC. Dad called JC a mumu which is considered derogatory. Josh made some comments that he didn’t get the same support at UConn that he was getting at his transfer school. Definitely intended as a dig against JC.

You might want to remove him from your support list and add him to your hate list if this is your current construct.

As far as I’m concerned stuff like this no longer bothers me. I focus on the five NCs and everything else becomes irrelevant.

The player you're referring to is Alex Oriachi, his dad called JC a "mum".

There is nothing wrong with being financially oriented first. Especially when you want to raise a family.
Last I knew the maximum disability insurance (Loyds of London) any college student could get to protect him from being too injured to play professionally was $1 000,000. So staying in college could be a great risk financially if you stay in school and get a serious injury that renders you unable to play professionally. That takes some serious thinking about risks. It's not just greed. You have to make responsible decisions for your life (and perhaps family). I think the universities understand this well and don't begrudge kids from doing it. Try to put yourself in their position.
