What does this have to do with Bashaara Graves or Mercedes Russell.

And it would seem to be the case with current members of UConn directly. But when a sibling leaves home they are still a brother or sister. I'm sure Geno is looking at it as family.

... Can't even meet up in the NCAAs because they don't get far enough.

Of course we can meet in the NCAAs - all the Selection Committee has to do is stick us in the same bracket. Then Tennessee can choose between Ball State Redux or getting their brains bashed in by UConn.

Geno understands that it is not his to forgive TN on behalf of others. I believe he called for apologies for others and not himself for just that reason. TN owes those others like Maya and her mom, specific fans, Sue and Dee apologies. It is for them to forgive as they are moved but is it not Geno's right to take unilateral action. Geno can offer grace for any offense against himself.

I couldn't let this one go by with a simple like, because I was just about to post the same thing. As has often happened in the past, you beat me to it and said it better than I would have.

There may be a way to thread the needle. More of an indirect apology ... UConn is a great program that has achieved excellence while doing things the right way ... There has been a lot said in the years since we last played. I'm sure we each said some things we regret but, the best thing we can do, for the sake of the two programs and their fans, is to put that behind us and compete on the basketball court.

Personally I think that should be enough. Will it be enough for Geno? I don't know.
That was pretty good! U must be a good person- thanks for that!

All I can add to this thread is the following: TN should never apologize. I am glad Holly made that clear. If they play, they play. If not, whatever. In terms of scheduling, UCONN needs TN more than TN needs UCONN. the AAC is just awful and the SEC has far superior teams.

I realize I am on the BY, and about 100% of you will disagree, but that's my opinion.

It's true the AAC is dreadful but UConn's out of conference schedule was quite strong this year and should continue to be strong. This year UConn played:

Stanford
Maryland
Penn State
Ohio State
Duke
Cal
Baylor

in addition to two games vs Louisville

With all due respect to Tennessee, UConn can get the same level of competition by continuing to play Louisville, adding South Carolina and Notre Dame, and keeping Rutgers as an OOC foe - without all the drama.

The dominant view on the VolNation is that Tenn should not play UConn now because they would get such a thorough thrashing.

So you believe in continuing the promotion of the lies and not taking responsibility for one's actions.

If nothing is done to mend the animosity prior to resuming the series the UConn players would be subjected to a small but loud segment of the LV crowd in TBA that has a festering hatred of all things UConn. Remember, this is the same crowd that booed every time Taurasi touched the ball for the entire game. And the teams played back then. I would think that the UConn staff is concerned about how the team would be received. Some sort of acknowledgement that the accusations included a lot of what I'll politely call gossip would help defuse the tin foil hat crowd.

Don't you recall? they weren't Booing, they were Mooing....

First, that's child's play and just good old fashioned rivalry.

Second, it was UConn that started booing - Semeka Randall after her tussle with Svet.

UCONN needs TN more than TN needs UCONN.

Keep telling yourself that. When TN played UConn they were relevent, contended for and won titles. Since you guys ran away leaving a trail of lies, smears and innuendo you haven't won squat. Your're just another member of the common ruck, while UConn has won four titles.

I doubt they care about that. The Taurasi booing is what sports is all about. That was great, especially when Diana stuffed it down their pie hole. That' s the whole reason I want to continue the series. WCBB can always use more passion.

that was this year's schedule. next year's is worse b/c of the teams leaving the AAC.

and i agree about the drama. i don't see why either school would want it.

Not wanting the drama is one thing. Saying UConn needs the game more than Tennessee does is another. And of course, the latter is simply not true...

Must have missed those great WCBB SEC teams in the final four ! Can you please tell me who they were ????

Judging from the recent 9th championship congratulatory letter from Pat Summitt to Geno/UConn, it appears her health is good enough for her to make the appropriate apologies. Although Geno is not asking for one himself, I believe he too deserves an apology. If Pat is not willing to do this, then the Tennessee administration should make it for her or at least explain why an apology will not be forthcoming.

This is not a forgive and forget situation. If UConn capitulates and resumes playing TN without them admitting wrongdoing, it would be a tacit admission that Tennessee did nothing wrong. Neither team "needs" the other. Women's basketball will do just fine without this game and the more time that passes, the less important the series will be.

I don't expect an apology from TN at this time. If in the future, TN feels they have a team capable of beating UConn, that's when they will be anxious for a renewal and may capitulate. Currently, too many in Knoxville feel UConn would win by an embarrassingly large margin and no one there could stomach that!

I have no problem with booing. And I want the game. But there are some sick puppies out there that might think they are doing god's work.

Exactly, we boo'd Randle so much that became her nickname. Boo Randle.

As logical as everything you say is, well...I don't think you understand the confederate mind. Holly could prostrate herself on a cathedral floor for 24 hours in a UConn uniform but the apostate nation would still boo everything about UConn 'til grits disappeared as a southern food group.
