This quote may bring some smiles tonight.

Kentucky is the popular pick of recruiting experts on where Newman will end up. Calipari doesn’t often whiff on his targets, and he’s made it very clear that Newman is a top priority. For what it’s worth, those closest to Newman say it isn’t a slam dunk he’ll end up in Lexington, though. Newman even admitted rooting for Connecticut over Kentucky in April’s national championship game.

Good overall read on Newman:

Newman and his brand, don't seem to be a match for Uconn.
seems to be all about himself and himself. not the team, which Uconn is.

So you're saying he's the second coming of Kobe Bryant......?

Please stop with the "he only cares about himself" idea. Just because he is smart and worries about his future, doesn't mean he is self-centered. He may very well want the team do win as much as anyone else. Besides, who doesn't like them self?

"In his defense, Newman himself has shown little interest in most of his father’s branding efforts, but he has played the role of dutiful son and acquiesced to Webster’s master plan. In the end, he’s 17-year-old kid who loves basketball and looks up to his dad — and he’d do anything Webster asked. When asked about all of this, Webster doesn’t flinch from the criticism. He’s determined to give his son every possible chance at achieving his dreams, and he doesn’t see any fault in turning his oldest son into a brand."

Oh, stop.

1) You know nothing about the kid.

2) You must have missed the Charlie V branding before he got here. (Can you imagine what El-Amin would have been like these days?)

These kids are generally all the same - we don't recruit a different breed than anyone else does.

I can't even think of what it would be like next season to potentially have Adams/Calhoun/Cassell Jr/Newman/Purvis/Samuel to work with in the backcourt with a Brimah/Enoch/Facey/Lubin/Nolan/Stone frontcourt with a DHam on the loose running wild...Top 5 team there IMO
