Disappointed in new seats

Just selected my seats at HCC/XL/PBA/TBA. Was in a corner section (207, row N) but wanted to move to opposite side to face UConn bench as in the past. Very easy process! Basically moved over 2 sections closer to the middle and down 1 row (217, M). Seems like us 200 section folks are faring OK; guessing some 100s decided not to join us "upstairs folks". Hope everyone else has had an equally stress-free time.

I'd like to know what seats are still available, also want to see if the HCC will be sold out to season tickets (I know GP will be)

Lower level as of 1:04

2 rows further back, 11 seats further from center court, no longer on the aisle at XXL. Will see how they are this season!

They sold out season tickets last season for both XL and Gampel.

At Gampel, the aisle seats got ate up pretty fast. We'll be missing that, but only have 2 people to climb over. And a new view. Still mad they took away our "forever" seats, but glad we were able to stay in the lower level.

Picked our seats for Gampel earlier this morning. We were able to move from the upper part of section 2 to the middle of section 206 so overall pretty happy about that. IMO pretty good bang for the buck while maintaining chairbacks. Didn't get aisle seats but the rows are relatively smaller.

Gampel as of 3:39 Monday. Less than 24 hours until I pick. Not great.
FWIW, when we used to get Gampel tickets, we sat in the last row in an upper corner. It was almost like having a chairback in the bench section. Plenty of room to store your coat, no knees in your back. Not a bad view either. Good for the quick getaway.

It's not the best feeling, buying tickets this year. I gave a sizable donation back in March to improve my seating selection when they were giving double points. After logging in today I ended up 3 rows back from where I was the past couple of years which was somewhat disappointing, and while feeling that disillusionment I immediately have to pony up with the loot for the tickets, so I am paying while I am unhappy. It's not a great experience. It should feel better, you know 'Hey, I got tickets :) , I paid my money and I feel good about it'. Instead there is some negativity mixed in. Congratulations to everyone who made out better thru the process. #7

Some of UCONN's training staff belong to Select Medical and are not UCONN employees - UCONN just contracts with Select Medical for their services. Select Medical has arrangements like this with lots of state schools - keeps the training staff out of the unions / pension plans.

You could ostensibly do the same sort of thing with the coaching staff (or other parts of the university) if you so choose. At the end of the day - they are here for the money and the opportunity - they probably wouldn't care if they weren't part of the union.

I am not upset with having to move slightly - I just thought with my donor ranking I wouldn't have to. I think that this is less about me getting leapfrogged by people - but rather existing ticket holders buying more tickets (4 v. 2 as an example) or donors that had given them up jumping back in now that we are hot again.

I was under the impression that only last year’s ticket holders were included in this year’s selection process. Also thought you couldn’t purchase any additional tickets.

Love the back row, no one can tell you to sit down!

That is true. They said you could only get the same amount of season you previously had. Of course they said they were Forever Seats too

If that is true then they are getting people to donate. So that’s a good thing. Everyone has to up their game.

Yeah let’s pay more for less!

To be fair I give less to the program now that it is not deductible if you get points for it.

But, as with everything, you have to evaluate what you want v what it costs to pay for it.

Inflation. Exists in all things.

Anyone know approximately how many people pick per day? I don’t pick until tomorrow at 10:55 at XL. Our seats are long gone but do have my eye on a couple of other possibilities that wouldn’t be too bad. Just wondering if I have a chance at them.

I think every 10 minutes (6)x hours (9?). My guess is 54 per day. Educated guess.

They are looking for new donors and big increases from existing donors.
Bottomline, UConn is asking fans to double donor participation/donor level. This recent exercise is a start not the end game or even followed by much of a break.
Yeah, it's kind of rotten that UConn is looking to increase donation money when none of the others schools care about whether or not they receive donations from fans.

It's kind of simple, if you want the program to be able to compete with the top programs we need to be at least somewhat competitive in what we can spend.

There are realities that we need to face and there are outside forces that are further complicating the matter. The school is now facing less financial support from the state at a time when the athletic programs need more resources.

A couple billionaire donors writing blank checks would be nice but I don't see them on the horizon. Yes, there could be a far better presentation to the fan base on why the athletic department needs them to dig deeper but they do need us to dig deeper if we want to remain at the top of the sport.
