BYers may know ASU signee Amaya Williams from Central Connecticut State. Not sure why the link says freshman as it appears she's a transfer.

I think she has made a mistake here. This is not the situation I envisioned when I was championing for her to leave South Carolina. This is a usage lateral move imo. I wish her luck though.

And one thing is for sure. LSU versus South Carolina will be box office next season.
These two are always box office.

Gonna be a little difficult for a 25% 3-point shooter to drop 50 in a college true road game, but stranger things have happened.

Didn't realize she can't shoot

Someday I would be curious to hear about what it’s like to be a coach at one of these places picking up 6 or 7 players regularly.

When you have a big frosh class, at least those players are ones that you’ve known for years so you already have a personal relationship, not to mention you’ve had a lot of time to think about how the player fits in to your style of play. And the recruits may have already interacted with each other.

This is a completely different animal. The players do have college experience so there’s less getting them up to speed but still you’re pulling together 7 transfers, a few HS recruits, and a few returners and trying to meld them together. Not even pro teams have that kind of turnover.
Not always the case, but it seems like often the transfers are picking schools that were among their finalists coming out of high school. Just because they're transfers doesn't mean they don't have (long) existing relationships with the coaching staff. And often the recruits/players know each other well, too (take Raven Johnson publicly recruiting her former HS teammate Latson, for example).

I hope people (at least the South Carolina fans) are smart enough to not give her (Fulwiley) what she wants, which is attention. Wish her well, if you must, and move on.
Maybe it’s because I don’t read or follow up on every news article, but I just can’t understand why there is so much dislike, distaste, or hatred, for this kid. Again, I’m an outsider looking in. Also, are the kids who transferred into SCAR this year, seeking attention?

Nope. Aside from a few Tik Tok/IG posts when Latson and Okot were on campus a few days ago, things have been pretty quiet from those two.

They go from loving the kid to hating on M.F.

There’s a lot that’s gone on, most of which is behind the scenes. Glad she’s gone and we can move on. We’ve lost players before (Saniya Rivers and Talaysia Cooper) and we have been perfectly fine. We will certainly survive this one. Ready to move on and really excited about the group we have coming in.

@JDuro, I personally didn’t think so. It was just a sarcastic question in response to @WBBTakeover’s comment — ‘Lay’s (possible) transfer to LSU. However, @TC22’s recent response has given me a slightly better understanding of behind the scene happenings.
Anyway, best wishes to everyone. Have a happy and safe summer!

Who's hating her (I'm sorry--I don't call 20-year-olds with six-figure earnings "kids". They aren't that anymore)? Not wanting her to glean satisfaction from seeing people (those who are usually fans of the player before all else) get up and arms about her departure is not "hating" her. While I think she's a talented player with the potential to improve, I also believe that her departure will not cripple this program. She's not a JuJu/Hannah type. She's officially in that Saniya Rivers/Talaysia Cooper group (and no shade to them--they're fantastic! But they're not generational talents). I don't remember people acting out when both of those talented players transferred, so why do that now? Why give her and her support group what they want? They all clearly want to elicit an emotional response from fans who think of her leaving for LSU as "going to the opps". "OMG--how could you?" "Why would you leave us high and dry?" I, for one, do not feel that way. Having her here was great, but her departure does nothing to me. It just doesn't hit the same way when your program is so excellent that it's able to bring in a replacement who's clearly superior. When Ta'Niya excels in garnet and black, those who are fans of the program and not just fans of the departed player will focus their attention on Miss Latson and this team.

If it isn't apparent, I am preaching indifference. Hopefully, we as fans understand that MiLaysia Fulwiley's departure does not sink our program. It's not what anyone wants, but it's not the end of the world. Let her go to LSU. If it works, cool. If not, she's free to transfer to Baylor, Ole Miss, or Tennessee for her senior season. Neither me, as a fan, or this program as a whole will be greatly impacted by the course of her career.

And.....a solid pick up by Winston Gandy

How many players on this team? According to this like close to 20?

Arizona State Sun Devils Women's College Basketball Roster - ESPN
Super dated roster....everyone listed there is .....gone

Miller is doing a tremendous job recruiting. Evidently she hasn't been able to make an impact yet on the glacial evolution of the ASU website.

Santa Clara on the other hand has fully updated the Broncos current roster after all of Loree Payne's recruiting.

That list is on ESPN. All that money and they put out this.

For folks who've lost track, who are the top unsigned?
  • Fulwiley (SC)
  • Kneepens (UT)
  • S Williams (WI)
  • Brown (ASU) ?
  • Aarnisalo (UCLA) ?
I was trying to figure this out this morning. Very hard to keep track

Brown, a talented offensive player is a turnover machine and defensive liability.

Remove Fulwiley (went to LSU) and add Heckel.
Heckel (USC)
Mwenentanda (Texas)
Phelia (Texas)
Williams (Wisconsin)
Kneepkens(Utah)

I think all 5 can be ceiling risers. But I feel like I'm missing people.
