If this were a game of risk putting some armies on the B!G flank would make sense and CT would be on the flank. It would make sense like putting armies in Kamtchatka to go after North America! ;) Who knows, maybe it happens. There are places in the south that are still fighting the war and this could be their new strategy - divide and conquer the Yanks.

To stick with the Risk analogy, if the SEC is Asia and the B1G is Europe what does that make the America 12?

This board needs an intervention.

First we got drunk on the Big East. That wasn't good enough for us so we tried to buy some weed from the ACC. The ACC said they would not sell us any weed so we decided to ask the B1G if they would sell us some coke.

The B1G said we couldn't handle the coke and turned us down.

We then heard the SEC was selling crack and we all ripped off granny to put a pile of money together to get a big rock.

We are patiently waiting for a response.

Maybe alcohol is really a gateway drug after all.

Misery is the ultimate gateway drug.

The sad part of the SEC threads is that even most of the posters mocking the rumor think there may be a kernel of truth to it. We are running after mirages.

UConn to the SEC is the mirror image mirage of GaTech to the B1G, imho.

Kernel? Maybe. I find it very, very improbable. Only the Pac would be even less likely to happen. As such, it makes for harmless, fun speculation. I sense a very different tone to these posts than the ones where several people convinced themselves we had turned down the ACC because a B1G invite was in hand.

This is more of a "what if" exercise, and in the process we find it isn't much more crazy than GT to the B1G, which so many think is happening or being seriously considered. The ACC needed football image. The SEC does not. It needs basketball for the new network and new eyeballs. UNC perfectly suits their needs and they could live with Duke. UVA would be a good fit as well. You heard the FSU president say that they don't bring what the SEC needs...confirming that it isn't football power or existing markets. Extrapolate that, and you get a list that looks like UNC (+Duke if requried), UVA, Oklahoma (+maybe Kansas) and UConn. I'm assuming they couldn't get Texas.

The B1G wanted Rutgers when the ACC did not. I think that confirms that what each conference wants and needs is different. That said, culture remains a big hurdle.

I do not believe that the SEC actually wants UConn or that there is any real chance that UConn will go to the SEC. But I do believe there could be some truth that the SEC may to to give the perception that they may go north. As others have said, it may be a 'warning shot' to the B1G to keep them in check for the eventual ACC raid. Basically saying, lets play nice....you take the northern ACC valuable assets, we'll take the southern ACC valuable assets.

No Big East Tournament. No NCAA Tournament. No football until August.

Give people a bit of a break, eh?

If he had to Mike Slive would crawl naked over broken glass and then sell his grand daughters to the House of the Rising Sun to keep UConn OUT of the SEC.

Let's just end this. The SEC can pretty much get any school they want because the money is so ridiculously high. UConn is not realistically on their radar at all.

To stick with the Risk analogy, if the SEC is Asia and the B1G is Europe what does that make the America 12?

The SEC is Australia, the B1G is South America, the ACC is North America, the B12 is Africa, and the P12 is Asia (doesn't matter until the end).

We are southern europe, a thing other armies march through to get to their ultimate destination.

If you've played, you'll understand.

Well then let's petition UConn to drop football back down to FCS and begging at the foot of the C7 for inclusion to their new mid-major conference. **sarcasm**

Yeah exactly.

What will happen first? Waylon will develop a sense of humor, or he will make an argument that isn't a fallacy?

We will be waiting a loooooooooooong time for either of those things to happen.
