New PAC-12 Forming

"I should add this would be for 2027. The PAC would have to help UConn pay to cancel a dozen and a half games."
here is Canzano's tweet:
I guess he hasn't read what sounded like buyers remorse, from Utah St's AD , a few months ago. " on their TV/media deal being a little lean "..... and the report that the PAC 12 bringing in any new members, "they probably won't be able to afford to pay any they've looked at in the past"

But now according to Canzano's (clickbait) the PAC has so much money they can buy out Uconn FB games and even leverage hoops games too. While paying em' to play/travel to a conference that'll be poorer than the AAC, not to mention farther. LOL !

Wonder if this is before or after they get buried by the ongoing MWC lawsuit ?

I think this is only true if the Football Playoff Committee has told UConn that independents w/o a Conf tie in (ala like ND) are set to be fully excluded starting in X.

Maybe. If that's the case then the PAC 12 has us over a barrel and they wouldn't help paying for rescheduling games.

Hopefully the basketball portion just means that we agreed to play Gonzaga a few times.

No, thanks.

An entanglement before the vaunted 2030 shakeup during which you all have promised me that the ACC will be torn asunder and they will be scrambling to back fill?

Agree. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

The days where we were told that the new P12 was going to be landing a $10-15M television deal feel long gone, don’t they?

The numbers on the new deals are so bad that the schools had to sign an NDA before receiving them.

It's crazy that they are worried about this and the new conference hasn't played a down yet.

Good or bad, you’d require an NDA before sharing competitively sensitive information.

Whatever version is left of the ACC for UConn to join will be reminiscent of the AAC. Also UConn can do this and join the ACC later on if said opportunity was appealing and presented itself.
I understand what you’re trying to say here but zombie ACC is >>>>>>>>>>>>> AAC ever was

Syracuse
Boston College
Pitt
Duke
Wake Forest
Georgia Tech
NC State
Calford

Are eons more interesting and supported than anyone in the AAC was (including the teams that have been poached to a P4). We sold out a home football game against Duke and have had 25k+ attendance against Boston College, Syracuse, NC State, and Wake Forest all in the last 4 seasons. Don’t think that ever happened against an AAC team.

Here is Canzano and Wilner's podcast. They talk about the PAC 12 adding a member and there is mention of UConn. Starts at 19:58.

.-.
UConn should not settle for 3 men and 3 women games just to join for football only. We might agree to 2 but 3 is too much. The key is sign up with no exit fees for 2030 if we get an invite.

This will help PAC-12 buy some time to pick another team for long term while UConn can fill its football schedule. It is mutually beneficial in case some teams on UConn's schedule decide to drop us due to multiple conferences going to 9 conference games.

Would be ironic to join the conference Mora went to as his excuse to be able to make the playoffs and beat him annually.
and iconic. that alone would be worth a few years of membership

Except it doesn't happen elsewhere and you can't actually keep the numbers a secret if your conference contains a public university

Agree. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.
On one hand, I agree.

On the other hand, if you can swap most or all of the G6 games for Pac-12 games and keep all or most of the P4 games, the schedules this would produce for football from 2027 to 2030 would be the strongest since UConn left the Big East, to say nothing of the fact that we could win the conference and go to the CFP.

If you were going to audition for a P4 and show the world football is back, this is how you would do it.

Oh by the way, it adds $12m+ to the bottom line when you consider CFP revenue share.

+1, why give up all the east coast travel, EDT slots and games vs. actual/past rivals and P-4's ?

For some out of place, 3000 mile away, west coast fantasy that guarantees nothing, even for a conference champ....... " Medics thread-G6 rep no longer needs to be a conference champ "removing the champion requirement for the Playoff could also devalue the G6 conference championship games if it comes into play." Benedict's working on the share difference "Also, no changes yet to UConn's CFP distribution, which is less than other FBS schools as an independent program. Discussions ongoing" ( currently about $1.5 mil less for Uconn).

But I'd say Uconn's already said no once to the PAC and it's lack of juice $$$, for a reason.

Given the above schedules no reason to join any conference except a P4 conference.

The travel would not be great. So many teams look bad when they travel coast to coast.

So far the furthest west UConn travels is Tampa. It would help to get a game or 2 in the central time zone.

I don’t see an environment where Duke would still be around and once you remove them from the equation, what’s left is not much different from an AAC especially when other AAC schools would probably also backfill.

And ultimately it would be reflected in what tv networks would be willing to pay out which would be singularity less than what that league gets today.

i dont see Georgia Tech or Calford or Wake resonating much with this fanbase in any sport. Cuse and BC would. Pitt maybe.

And if the ACC left behind was worth moving towards great you can join PAC football only for now and get in ACC later.

If UConn is on the precipice of joining the Big 12 this is a very different conversation and I have no reason to believe they are

Every single game on those schedules are exactly what we should be trying to schedule. Replacing Temple, Army, Buffalo and Rice with Utah State, Texas State, and Washington State wouldn’t do anything for us
