Can UCONN legally announce the hiring of a new head coach when then they have one? Don't they have to wait for due process to be completed before they announce any hiring? If they announceed they hired a new head coach that will mean they fired Ollie without due process, therefore he will be owed the full amount that remains on his contract. True???

He’s been fired, they’re negotiating the terms of his buyout. He is no longer the head coach at UConn.

Technically he is still the head coach until they announce something.

No. Technically he’s still employed, but he’s not the head coach
Got it.
"The contract is structured as something of an “all-or-nothing” proposition: UConn is either compelled to pay Ollie almost everything or is entitled to pay him nearly nothing."

Just quoting the article bud. @AntG168 answered my question.
@AntG168, so they have to continue to pay him until due process is completed? Once due process is completed and if Ollie didn't commit any infractions he will be due the full contract?

They can have however many head coaches they can afford. They're printing $100 bills in Connecticut.

How about you at least propose the existing CT state statute that would prevent them from hiring a coach while the former coach is still technically employed ? I'm going to go with none. That entire idea seems to have emanated from some union blowhard wishcasting that because Ollie is still being paid, that there can't be two people with the title of "UConn Men's Basketball Head Coach". Pure fantasy.

One of your serious issues is reading anything posted at SI without many grains of salt. They know close to nothing about the situation, their level of assumption is only marginally lower than the posters on this board.

@Huskyforlife, Ollie may never coach at UCONN again but at this time he's not willing to take a penny less than what he's owed on his contract. He believes he didn't commit any infractions. UCONN must prove this. The NCAA may announce soon that Ollie and UCONN men's basketball didn't commit any infractions.
