You’re an odd dude. You find the strangest fights to pick. They’re all opinions, weirdo. Thanks for answering my question.

Or… I can shrug my shoulders and not go after the red herring. We've never had a white husky as our logo. That cartoon dog with long fur doesn't resemble your photo at all. It was obviously a Samoyed.
You can prove me wrong by posting any piece of UConn gear with a logo that looks remotely like your top photo.
Even weirderYes John, I know what NIL is. Just like I know more basketball than you can dream and I know a bad opinion when I see one.
They should've gone with a white Husky as their logo instead of a Samoyed, it never made sense to brand yourself after something different than your name. The logo is everywhere and that's what people know you for, most people around the country never see the actual dog.Or… I can shrug my shoulders and not go after the red herring.
The bottom line is since 1935 until the last rebranding, the University of Connecticut’s mascot has always been a white husky. Whether you feel like any particular rendering of that white husky is biologically inaccurate really isn’t particularly relevant, is it?

Yep, it’s also true that at least one of the live mascots was a Samoyed husky.Isn't it pretty well documented that the UConn Husky is historically a white husky, but also that the artist rendering used his dog which was a Samoyed? Both things can be true?
Yes. They should've gone with a Husky logo since they're the UConn Huskies.Isn't it pretty well documented that the UConn Husky is historically a white husky, but also that the artist rendering used his dog which was a Samoyed? Both things can be true?

As we're discussing logowear, not mascots, it is particularly relevant.Or… I can shrug my shoulders and not go after the red herring.

Personally, I would be good with this. The off season is officially here I guess!
Awhile back someone mocked up a great compromise. This one kicks ass.

Respectfully, your opinion as to whether a stylized drawing of a dog is more representative of one than another of the two related breeds of dogs, isn’t particularly relevant. As noted above, though, UConn has had at least one Samoyed as their live mascot as well.As we're discussing logowear, not mascots, it is particularly relevant.
That's fine, although it was someone else's opinion that started this discussion.Respectfully, your opinion as to whether a stylized drawing of a dog is more representative of one than another of the two related breeds of dogs, isn’t particularly relevant. I own both stuff with both too. But in the postseason I strictly wore white dog stuff, much is the team did. You can’t argue with the results, right? That's fine, although it was someone else's opinion that started this discussion.
I still have a wool cap and a sweatshirt with the old cartoon. But I own a lot more apparel with the current logo.
As George Carlin once said, "I'm a modern man..."
If we're talking "results", I'd argue that tbomk there was no Husky logo on the actual unis for the first 3 NCs. Maybe on the warmups.I own both stuff with both too. But in the postseason I strictly wore white dog stuff, much is the team did. You can’t argue with the results, right?
The white husky was the logo for four of those natties (since we wore them this year) and the Sold blue wolf natty was with kids who have been developed under the white Husky logo.If we're talking "results", I'd argue that tbomk there was no Husky logo on the actual unis for the first 3 NCs. Curious - where on any men's bball uni in past 25 years has UConn used a husky logo? The white husky was the logo for four of those natties (since we wore them this year) and the Sold blue wolf natty was with kids who have been developed under the white Husky logo.
Those are the facts, and they are undisputed.
The throwbacks have the Samoyed on the shorts.Curious - where on any men's bball uni in past 25 years has UConn used a husky logo?
We.ve had plenty of arguments over Connecticut vs UConn. blue vs white vs (God forbid) black and gray. But I just don't recall any uni featuring any dog.
This year’s did. Google it if you’re curious.Curious - where on any men's bball uni in past 25 years has UConn used a husky logo?

I saw 99s did. And I saw 2014's did. I only saw 23 having a dog when they wore the throwbacks with the BE flag logo. Didn't see it on 2011 unis (which had the weird narrow U intersecting the C on the shorts). I'll concede 2023 wore the Samoyed duriing the NC game, but the regular uni just had HUSKIES down the leg. I'm not sure if 2004 had the Samoyed all year or just in the NC.This year’s did. Google it if you’re curious.
Not sure why they have to stretch an ultra-tight uniform over the furry costume and sometimes chonky person inside. What Not to Wear.No problem with the logos but our mascot wears mascara. Who decided our mascot should be Tammy Faye baker?
Figured I would take this topic way off the rails
It is an abomination. Whoever approved that design should be fired. Looks nothing like the new logo so why not just keep the old white Jonathan? smdhView attachment 87166
