Nevada with a big game vs. #21 Oregon State tonight

At first, I was feeling short, but then I saw Scott. ;)

Ha, yeah he's not tall. It's hilarious seeing him standing next to a player like Hamblin or Gulic. Pretty much all of his players are taller. He might be sub 5'5".

Amanda looks 2-3” taller than Scott.

.-.
Corosdale 6-3
Thropay 6-2
McWilliams 6-2
Washington 6-1
Tudor 6-0

at least according to their roster

89-49 final. That was a beatdown. Nevada shot 27% from the floor and 20% from the 3 point arc. I know it's easy to say they just had a bad game, but OSU's opponents have been having bad games against them for years.

.-.
I’m not usually on the floor next to the players, but OSU in particular looked huge.

That's cool. I go to some of Washington's games but I've never been down by the court. W/ an unbalanced conference schedule not everybody plays home and home every year. I've seen OSU 2 or 3 times in recent years, but they didn't come to Seattle last year (not including the conference tournament). I'll probably go to the game this year. Might go to the game against Oregon too so I can see Ionescu, Hebard and company in person.

edited--I'd like to go to a game in Corvallis some time but not sure when that will happen

Okay I'm stumped, I'm not sure who Amanda is.
Amanda- She is the one who lights up your life and who fate should have made a gentlemans wife. Perhaps he meant Aleah or Mikayla, but the shortest player is Kalmer at 5'8"

Don Williams, the Gentle Giant, may he rest in peace.

OSU had close losses in their 2 biggest games so far (Notre Dame, Duke), but has been squashing the rest of their opponents. I still think they'll be in the thick of the Pac 12 race this year.
I thought they looked good and possibly underrated at #21.

Wait til next year! They lose Gulic but return Grymek and get Aquino and Morris. They'll have 3 player 6-7+. They've got pretty good size on the wings too w/ Tudor and McWilliams.
Interesting roster: the 2 giants are from Europe, and everyone else is from a Western state. I like Pivec just from reading her bio: she is the highest ranked player ever recruited to OSU and, as a freshman, set the #4 OSU mark in the javelin throw. That reminds me of Kendra Wecker from KSU, who was national class in the javelin. Also, from the personal sections of the kids' bios: One looks up to Diana, and another grew up watching Sue Bird. I know those names!

.-.
Yeah that would be a huge lineup. I'm not sure they'll even play 2 of them together real often, have to wait and see. Gulic is having a nice season, they'll definitely miss her. Bring everybody else back though plus get Slocum and several recruits.
Yeah, they look good now and should be even better next year.

Um, you guys have a short memory. ;)

Amanda Levens is Scott's counterpart. We saw her 3 days ago.

How on earth did UConn nearly get outscored in an entire half by that team?
Good question. They didn't look like the same team tonight. Nevada struggled getting a good shot, stopping the inside shot, and contesting the 3-pointers. The Wolfpack shot only .274 overall and .200 from the arc. In contrast, the Beavers shot .537 overall and .543 (13-24) from distance. Nevada lost by 40 and was outscored by 33 from the arc. OSU is shooting a stellar .462 from the arc for the season (6 games).

It seems that often, when a weaker team play's above their level to give UConn a good game, they seem to have a poorer game the next time out. I would posit that this may be due at least in part to the emotional exhaustion that a team may feel. I am sure that was part of MSU losing to SC in last year's final. Maybe I am seeing something that is not there?

result was to be expected..................Nevada played out of their minds at home in front of 7,000 plus against a tired and disinterested UConn team so a let down was almost inevitable..............most teams play their best against UConn............... it's just their best is rarely good enough to matter............

I don't think you are seeing something that is not there. When Nevada played Uconn they had lost three games out of six. Look at how Tulane played Uconn last season and how hard USF plays against them and then loses to or struggles with an unranked team. Some teams get sky high for Uconn. Also, see Charliebball's post.

This photo is begging for a "Caption this".

"Did we scare some Boneyarder's?"

It's never a good idea to put too much emphasis on comparative scores. To many variables involved on any given night. Notice I said TOO MUCH emphasis. It can have some value if we really know the teams involved and can recognize it their game they played was average, below average or above average. Teams often have players who play the game of their life on a given night and that would certainly affect the perspective of the teams actual strength. The opposite also holds true as well.

I think Levens learned from CTT that scouting is important and how to get her team to play hard even though they may be underdogs. The problem is getting your team to play hard every game.
