NET Rankings - UConn vs Gonzaga

With Creighton being the best Quad 2 and Columbia now the 2nd to best quad 4 (was quad 3), expecting UConn to slide to #3 in a couple of hours on AP and #4 on Coaches.
Doubt it. AP poll is reactionary and we just beat Creighton on the road by 27 on prime time FOX. Although it will be “close” points-wise from the voters.

The NET highly values adjusted offense and defense efficiency. When you do the math those two are equivalent to margin of victory adjusted by how good the team is and is similar to Kenpom and Torvik. When you look at those two rankings you can see that how you adjust for the quality of the other team can affect the rankings. I think the NET gives too much credit to beating bad teams by a lot.

Likely 4. All the good teams are consolidated in the top 15-16 teams. 4 seeds will be quality opponents, think Kansas, Vandy, BYU. Then you'll have to beat a 2/3 seed to get to the F4, along with those two games.
well...the committee will this up and someone will get st louis as their 4 and miami OH as their 2.

Back in the early days of computing they used to say GIGO. Garbage in= Garbage out. Most of these metrics are just nonsense. At the end of the day does it really matter if UConn beats Creighton by 15 when the Computers and the Draft Kings projected they’d win by 17? They are taking systems that were designed to set lines in Vegas (and by Mickey the Rat, too) and using them to decide how to rank teams.

As a program Gonzaga went from Cinderella to legit contender to now the most overrated program in the country. They have zero chance of winning it all.

Actually I take that back, St. Mary's is the most overrated program in the country. We always hear about how good they are and they've made one sweet 16 in the past 67 years.
St. Mary’s is good for what it otherwise is, the program itself ain’t spectacular
