If the CFP selections tell us anything, it tells us that it’s run by the P4. What happened in the CFP, with a 3 loss Alabama, that got dominated yesterday and barely beat a 5-7 team in their previous game, is a foreshadowing of college basketball in the near future. The big boys will run everything and the Big East, like independent ND, in football, will get only what the big boys are forced to give them

More like the P2, given that the CFP playoff includes Indiana, Ohio St, Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, they consume 67% of it.

Miami getting in was a likely political play, given the ACC one team. Good opportunity to send ND a message.

I mean you’re right but the CFP also just took 2 G5 champions. An almost unthinkable scenario. The ACC nearly got 0 bids and would have if ND had beaten Miami.

Lolz, Tulane and James Madison are in.

UConn is the premiere basketball program in the country for both men and women. Our hockey program is in a golden era and still has not hit its ceiling. Baseball continues to be awesome. Football just had its best 2 year era in the program history and the new coach is generating a ton more excitement.

All of this has come after more than a decade of “this is the end of UConn sports” conference realignment talk from many fans…we all know the challenges of not being a P4 member, but we are dominating and having fun and our future overall is still brighter than many schools in the P4. No one knows what the future holds but the present is too fun and too good for UConn fans to overthink conference membership.

I'll wager heavily that those on charge will soon change the rules and make it top four conference champions (and make sure that going forward it will always be the P-4) until it expands to 16. Then they'll work it where they won't be required to pick a G-5 school.

Actually we all know what the future holds.

Half this board said UConn was finished competing in sports when Cuse, Pitt and the others went to the ACC.

These aren't exactly serious people.

The irony is we are probably better off competing and winning in the Big East. But in the long run, the financial disparities will be too much to overcome. A Big 12/ACC spot will keep us financially solvent but we would likely suffer on the field or court due to travel and being a second class member of a southern or western conference.

Some might even call them casual.

I don’t understand your conspiracy. The three candidates were all major programs. Why does it have anything to do with UConn?

AD made a home run hire for the football team. I’m honestly surprised he left Toledo for the UCONN job. Hopeful they continue on and actually improve. It’s what will be needed to get an invite to a P4 conference
Football program is a decent ACC program at this point. We are right there. What else do they need to see?
