Yes.Loyd was cool as a cucumber the entire game. You felt she knew she would will the team to win no matter what.
Wasn't Natalie Achonwa sitting behind ND's bench?

Not since 2008. The last several times have been blowouts. Last one I remember was a twofer at 88-44 and 95-62 before that.

Notre Dame has incredible free throw defense.
ND needs to get a second option after Loyd..... they cannot go deep into March with just Loyd as a weapon
Im guessing Turner is that 2nd option.
Other teams have made NC runs with only 1 or 2 great players. Look at Maryland with Alyssa Thomas. aTm with Danielle Adams. Michigan State made it to the NC game in 2005 with only Haynie and Bowen as legit scoring options.Even if Turner is the second option, you still need at least one more, preferably three more.
I don't see ND having 4 or 5 players who can light you up on any given night. That, plus their interior defense weakness, could hurt them come March or before.
Yeah, her Mom and Dad were in the stands.Loyd is from north suburban Chicago, so I think she had a little extra motivation to get this win.
Achonwa was on ND's bench. She's acting as Operations Specialist while rehabbing her knee in preparation for the Fever season. ND's current Operations Specialist is suffering complications from Type 1 Diabetes.

Notre Dame is not a top 10 team. They miss McBride- Allen, and Mabry are mediocre guards, with nothing behind them. Lloyd is great player, however she lack the supporting cast for a great team.
Well, she didn't really will the team to win in this one ... unless she has the dark power to will opponents to miss free throws at home. In that case I think her Catholic school should perform an exorcism ... or perhaps Luke Skywalker should be called in.
I had failed to understand all of the Notre Dame love up until this point, with many saying that they were superior to South Carolina. The name was getting them more respect than they deserved, much like Stanford.
They are solid but they are miles away from where ND and UConn were last year.
You were right...with the caveat that it's hard to know how much Turner's injury is affecting ND. We don't have much of a sample size of Turner in meaningful games (basically just Michigan St. game).
I guess just the idea that a true freshman even potentially means that much to the team is a red flag in itself.
I'm still not convinced by South Carolina, though. They are solid but they are miles away from where ND and UConn were last year. They don't seem as strong as a typical #1 team.
ND looked pretty good in the game I saw earlier this year with Turner playing. SC is lucky they won the other day. Neither team could score in the first half. They were both ice cold.
The better you are the luckier you get.
I am not sure that any team has demonstrated how good they are yet, although Texas has looked to be a very complete team.
Have you seen UNC play this season ? They have inside scoring.... a talented wing.... and a few solid speedy veteran guards.
I'm impressed you got that out without having a stroke.

Maybe Dune and UNC are headed for a FF appearance this year. Stevens will only get better.
