Now THAT you can call "Luck" of the Irish. Good Lord.

I don't wanna say DePaul gave the game away but...................

Disgusted.

Notre Dame did NOT win this game.
DePaul's abysmal free throw shooting GAVE them the game.

I can't believe it.

Hard to believe a coaching staff would put up with this kind of free throw shooting.

What about "good Loyd"? She's the obvious leader in the clubhouse for NPOY, after all.

i had this same feeling when Xavier missed those two uncontested layups late in the NCAAs vs Stanford couple of years ago..... Painful to watch

Don't like the word CHOKE, but DePaul did Choke on their Free Throws last two minutes of Regulation and in OT. Players who missed Free Throws down the stretch won't get much sleep tonight. This could have been a signature win for DePaul. Fortunately they play a game before coming to CT to face UConn.

Mouth agape...don't I saw that before. All the more reason for UConn to play very aggressive with them.

Depaul shot 12-29 free throws for the game. Brittany Hrenko shot 5-16, missed
4 ft's at the end of regulation and 4 more in the last minute of OT.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

Watch 'em shoot 90% from the line against the Huskies.

I've seen better games in person but that will long be the craziest game I've attended.

I agree that she is the leader so far but even with her ND should not have won this game. Depaul just lost it.

That was one exciting game and a totally bizarre one...i don't think I’ve seen a game between 2 ranked teams with so many FT misses by one team with the opportunity to win the game time and time again....this for sure was a game where DePaul lost the game and ND didn't win it.
That said, Loyd is amazing and so far she is the NPOY but ND does not look good at all compared to what we are used to seeing from a ND team.

Now THAT you can call "Luck" of the Irish.

And DePaul had the luck of the Central Europeans, with surnames like Hrynko, Rogowsky, and Podkowa among their starters.

(Question - How many Slavic-surnamed wcbb players does it take to screw the pooch?)

Tonight's ND-DePaul game more brutally exemplified the importance of free throws than any game I have ever seen. In my life. DePaul absolutely blew the game at the line, handing it to ND on a silver platter. For the entire game, DePaul was an inexcusably pathetic 12 for 29 !! But it gets much much worse. In the second half, with leads at various times of as much as 8 points and never trailing after the 11 minute mark until the end of regulation, against an ND team not playing well and with the chance to put the game out of reach, DePaul missed the front end of 7 one-and-ones !! Holy cow !! On their home court !! In just the last 4:00 minutes of regulation, guard Hrynko went 1 for 6 from the line, several of which were the front ends of one-and-ones. In the overtime, Hrynko's horror show got even worse, going 3 for 9 shooting free throws, throwing up brick after brick. The kid didn't want any part of shooting free throws, I felt really bad for her. Coach Bruno and DePaul would have had a great win for their program if they could just do one of the easier yet critical elements in basketball. Sadly they couldn't.

One note to remember: playing at DePaul is VERY difficult. They always seem to be about 20 pts better at home vs UConn.

ND is still searching for its game...... depending so much on Loyd..... she WAS ND's offense..... it will be interesting to see what will happen when Turner returns and hwo Muffet weaves her into the ofense..... Loyd was 12 for 28 from the field ..... so 41 points but took many shots to get to that total......dont care if ND won or lost....... but still cannot believe there were so many times DePaul could have won that game..... ...

They certainly were in 2008. Not so much in 2012.

Not since 2008. The last several times have been blowouts. Last one I remember was a twofer at 88-44 and 95-62 before that.

Hyrnko had an awesome game driving to the basket and getting fouled but she can't shoot free throws to save her life.

Gotta work on that.

Loyd was cool as a cucumber the entire game. You felt she knew she would will the team to win no matter what.

Wasn't Natalie Achonwa sitting behind ND's bench?
