Pathetic

it is a weak year, there is one good team, and a bunch of wannabes -Notre Dame, Baylor, Tennessee, and Louisville should be much stronger next year

Just back to my hotel; seriously disappointed, but excited about next season. We need better guard play and we better practice free throw shooting the whole off season. I'm looking forward to seeing how Dawn develops Bianca Cuevas and looking forward to more improvement from Alaina Coates and A'ja Wilson. Good luck on Monday.

Reimer.... never have seen her play that well..... a pretty sloppy game by both teams.... I hope Tuesday proves to be a cleaner game, at least from our part.....

and another go round with Notre Dame..... this is unmistakedly the premier rivalry in the women's game..... and for all who are clamoring for a UConn - Tenn rivalry rebirth, this should be an apt substitute!!

Great game as expected. However with ND running away with it early where was the bench. You cant give ND a big lead like that. With Turner and their point guard on the bench with 5 fouls get the ball down low. What happened. Then with seconds left and Mitchell with the ball no designed play? No pic's. No prepared for the finish. I feel very confident UConn can get Turner in foul trouble just like SC did. I also see UConn playing at another level. Loved Genos comment when asked about the ND win and Turner did not play and he replied people don't remember MoJeff didn't score and fouled out of that game. UConn by 20+. Next season a lot of good teams but there is only one UConn.

Luck O' the Irish. If Loyd's air ball hits the rim, SC rebounders were in position. While I would take more pleasure in beating ND than I would SC, I want ND to lose whenever possible. Last night was tough to take. BTW, if you see the replay of that last possession, Wilson, I think it was, or one of their bigs, made a perfect cut down the middle. If they weren't so intent on doing the obvious with Mitchell....

I'm left wondering how good of a coach Dawn really is... Wilson had 20pts, 9rebounds, 2assist, 1steal, 4blocks in only 24 minutes. Wilson was clearly the best player on the floor for SC. ND had not answer for her. The questions is... why does she only play 24 minutes. Imagine if she played 30+ minutes. Does SC lose by 1?

Great question. Even though A'ja is young for a good stretch there she was the only gamecock playing with any fight.

Condolences. Was pulling for a UConn SC final.

I was rooting for SC to pull it off. Thought it was going to happen with Turner & Allen fouled out. Great year - you'll be back strong next year.

Since her 2 game sabbatical in early January (when by all reports she was seriously thinking of transferring), Reimer has been a different player; yesterday was not an atypical performance since the calendar changed. She has started to show the form that made her the #4 ranked player when she came out of HS.

I still expect UConn to win the game, but while most ND fans have pointed to Turner not playing the first time around, Reimer is a much better player than she was is December and I would expect a closer game.

Along with poor foul shooting, bad luck on the Loyd air ball, and an inoportune time out and bad final play design, I think that SC was done in by Staley's loyalty or sturborness (depending on your point of view). Why not start Coates, who did start the second half, and Wilson. Another 4 minutes of their offense and SC might have won.

Not sure the correlation between one player not playing in the game and one player not playing well in the game. I guess Muffett could reply that Maybrey and Cable had 0 points in that game too.
UConn also had 24 turnovers in the ND game.
Uconn was down 28-18 to ND and was down 44-43 at the half to Dayton, and UConn lost to a Stanford team that shouldnt have been with 15 points of them.
I expect UConn will win on Tuesday...........but I wont be shocked if things didnt turn out as expected.

On the other hand...they totally failed to box out Maddie Cable. SC's defense isn't totally faultless there.

While that's true, air balls always get a different reaction from rebounders. If SC rebounders have a flaw, it seems to beta tendency to watch the ball in the air and neglect boxing out. Happened several times.

Exciting game to watch. SC needs to improve defensively and it seemed like no one wanted to take an outside shot. Alaina Coates needs to improve her foul shooting, I do not think I have ever seen such poor shooting form as hers.

Alaina is normally a good free throw shooter. She shot 100% from the line in one of the Regional games. 6 for 6 or something like that. We played tight in the first half, which is the reason for the early deficit, plus ND is a very good team. There is no substitute for experience and our most highly recruited players are freshman and sophomores, so I'm very excited about next season. I'm even more excited about how our fans have fallen in love with WBB. I've been going to a lot of games since I was in high school, but our core group has grow exponentially in the last few years. I'm glad I still have my season tickets on the 4th row.

Free throws and offensive rebounds were the story last night. SC looked shell-shocked at the start, but fought back multiple times. ND's offense was mediocre, so they had to live on the offensive boards. SC could have won by 1o, but they gave up easy baskets and failed to cash in on the freebies. They missed at least 5 FTs is a row late. Ugh!
