Wow, what I read was a heck of a lot of material about how good they are.... but that they cannot get over the hump... Hey everyone we have been top 10... but not as often as UCONN.... we were in four of the last five championship games... but oh yeah we lost all four.... Interesting they want to air their "dirty laundry".

SERIES: UCONN leads 33-11
That's not close.

You are RIGHT---A Notre Dame site telling THEIR fans how great they are--how egocentric they are"?
On the Uconn site WE always emphasize Notre Dame Wins, we never say how many Championship games Uconn has been in nor does Uconn site talk about the 10 National Championships it has won -cuz Uconn site is generous and we don't want ND fan to think badly of us.

I admire your steadfast fan-ness but you're about an 11 on the tonyc-meter with this one.

10 for 10!

With the 63-53 win over No. 2/2 Notre Dame on April 7, UConn claimed its 10th national championship in its 10th appearance in a national championship game. Below is a list of teams to win multiple national championships and how many appearances they have made in a national title game.

School NC’s NC Games
Conn 10 10
Tennessee 8 13
Baylor 2 2
La. Tech 2 4
Stanford 2 4
USC 2 3

It's a school SID officer's job to pump up the fans and to project a positive view of the program. If the ND SID hadn't posted the rah-rah stuff, s/he wouldn't have been doing their job.

Thanks for the ND report! In my eyes we can never beat ND TOO bad! 30+ will be alright!
Not to upset any Red Sox fans on THE BONEYARD, but I equate UCONN/ND or UCONN/TN like the Yankees vs the Red Sox. If the Red Sox were to win the next 18 World Series titles in a row they will only TIE the NY Yankees total of 27!
A majority of ND & TN fans think their teams are equal or better than UCONN, but 10 Titles to 1 & 8, respectively doesn't equal UCONN's 10 in 10 Finals as Nan showed above!
As I stated previously elsewhere, ND has been in 5 Finals winning 1, that we gave them by the way!
A large majority of both ND & TN fans are bitter and nasty to UCONN!
It really bothers me that so many TN fans on their fan sites are still bitching and nasty about Geno, Maya Moore & Maya's Mom!
Get over it already!

A majority of ND and Tennessee fans think their team is equal or better than UConn? How did you possibly infer that? Have you read McGraw's Bench or Vol Nation? If you have and you STILL feel that, then you are suffering from the logical fallacy termed selective attention.

As I stated previously elsewhere, ND has been in 5 Finals winning 1, that we gave them by the way!
Classy. So if we win, it's a gift from you. And if we lose, it's indicative of our program's inferiority.

A large majority of both ND & TN fans are bitter and nasty to UCONN!
And as far as ND fans being bitter towards UConn, I would say that they are mostly bitter toward a small group of vocal and obnoxious UConn fans (although Geno certainly gets some shade thrown his way by envious fans). Fans like you infuriate ND fans by calling the entire team (minus Turner and Allen) stiffs. Let me ask you, why would Geno have recruited Westbeld, Reimer, and Ogunbowale if they were such pedestrian talents? There are many UConn fans (like you) that denigrate other teams in their efforts to praise UConn. It is completely unnecessary for any fan to engage in such behavior, but it is especially egregious for a fan of the country's best team (in the midst of most dominant dynasty the sport has ever seen) to belittle the efforts of their competitors.

I have noticed a large swing this season towards unparelleled respect for UConn, players and sometimes Geno (They all seem to grudginly think he is a better coach than they have) from all including UT and ND fans. I'm a bit impressed. Makes me respect them back even.

It's called hyperbole, politicians call it rhetoric---but actually it was SEVERELY TONGUE in cheek.
Why would anyone expect the Team Site Of Notre Dame to do anything other than tout Notre Dame. Should they emphasize losses and reduce the light on wins?? That's where I was coming from. I don't have to be sold on UConn WBB or Geno or any member of this team--excellence is spelled UConn WBB.
Mucho Gracius (sp) Thanks for knowing what was meant.

I think you're going a bit too far with this comment! While a vast majority of Irish fans respect Geno's accomplishments, we are generally VERY happy having Muffet as our coach. In general, we feel that Geno has been so dominant vs. Notre Dame because for many of the years, he has won the recruiting wars and thus Muffet hasn't been dealing with equivalent talent. Certainly the recruiting services have agreed that UConn has acquired the lion's share of the talent. With ND's recent recruiting success, the gap has narrowed, although Jewell's unexpected early departure and injuries to our posts this season pushed back ND's window to compete with UConn one more year.

It's refreshing just to see someone use "infer" correctly! Happens around here much less often than not. The rest of the post was excellent, also.

!!!!!!!! and, just for good measure !!!!!! ;)

I have no problem with ND publishing their accomplishments. It's good marketing ND had a short run against us and that's fine.

Regardless of what is in print, you have to play the game. That is the only story line that counts.

I think this year's ND is very likable from the standpoint of the individual player's skills and from the component each represents toward the whole.

I am disheartened by the injury situation. I sincerely feel bad for Patberg, Reimer, and Turner. Aside from effect on the players, coaches, students, and any individual game, this is a bad thing for WCBB. Right now, UCONN and ND are the two outstanding programs in the game, yet three of the last four times they've met, ND has not been able to marshal all their weapons. Women's college basketball needs big games. It needs highly publicized, 12-round bouts between two heavyweights.

Sorry, I mean why would you want Geno when you can lose with Muffet.

Lots of misconceptions in your posting. Geno hasn't won (all) the recruiting wars with Muffet.
Uconn has not received the "lions share of talent". Stewies freshman year Jewel won most of the awards--Stewie ONLY got the MVP of the NC (of course this is the only one that counts).
Jewel left a year early so her selection by the WNBA would be higher without competing with Stewie.
It is not the talent of the players a coach gets, it is the talent the coach turns them into that really matters. No one does this better than Geno's staff.
Turner, Reimer, Mabrey, Westbled, Mabrey2, cable, Allen, Jewel---some or all Geno didn't get that he wanted. Get REAL!!!

Geno recruited Skylar Diggins, Jewel Loyd, Taya Reimer, Brianna Turner, Arike Ogunbowale (not sure how long, tho), among others.

Wish the sportscasters who always want to say,"UConn wins 'cause they get all the best players" could understand this. Everytime they make an uninformed statement meant to deinigrate UConn, they do the entire sport a diservice. Do they say things like that, cause the network wants them to, or are they just that stupid? There always seems to be an agenda.

It is not the players a coach get--it's how the coach develops the players that coach actually get. Geno has done well with one top gun and a cast of second tier players (second tier not defined).

I contend that it's both. For example, no matter how hard Kathryn Westbeld works and how smart she plays, she doesn't have the physical gifts to be Breanna Stewart.

No doubt what you say is correct. A perfect match is both coach and player. I do believe some coaches get the most from players--while others wouldn't. DT, Stewie, Maya, Sue, among others have had something in their make up's that made them excel. Some had physical characteristics that did that too. Faris was one with out physical characteristics--just a hard nosed kid with drive. That only took her so far, and Geno took her further. Using your example--I doubt that ND's Turner will ever be a
Stewie type of player--close but no clone. Can you define Stewie or DT--I can't.
