For all of us Uconn fans that dislike Notre Dame it was nice to see them one and done in the ACC tourney and probably out of the big dance too for the 2nd year in a row.Granted last year was nicer with the way Miss Muffet and ND were so pitiful..all kidding aside I guess it was better when they were relevant..at least for a few years we had some sort of rivalry
I have to say that Maybery is even more annoying than her 2 older sisters were
So who is our rivals now..closest team I can think of is SC which maybe will be more of a rivalry the next few years with the incoming class they have plus basically only losing 1 player and she isn't a starter

Can you believe Arkansas also lost to Mississippi?? What an up & down team! No problem with Baylor or UCONN, & they lost by 1 to Texas A&M. But they struggle within their conference.
That’s what happens when you are so reliant on one player eg Dungee and don’t have much from others. She had 22 but next best was 13 and 10 and then not much else. On any given night she can win them the game, but she needs help.
(Which is why is having multiple scorers on top of Paige is important)

I actually think they have other reliable people in Ramirez and Slocum. Arkansas' biggest problem to me, is that they play to the level of their competition. They were big UP to play us and executed beautifully, however, yesterday, they were terrible.....which leads me to their second biggest problem-they have 0 inside game. It doesn't seem to hurt them on offense, but man, it kills them on D. Shakira Austin ate them for lunch.

I tthink SC and Stanford are our rivals now..

Considering the amount of recruits that we have lost to them recently I say it's time to reignite things with Stanford.
In addition to losing recruits there is also this thing of Geno chasing Tara for the wins record. Yup, let the Huskies out to find a tree to do its business on.

Wilson Mizner said, "Be nice to people on your way up because you'll meet them on your way down". Geno won't coach forever. All the gloating those of us do now over ND, Tenn and the like will be nothing compared to the party others will have the day UConn fails to make the Cotillion. Sorry. I find no pleasure in watching the great rivalries UConn had fade. It does nothing for WCBB.

They're a much better team at home than away from home. On paper their best road win was at FGCU, but that game was played (oh so fortuitously) less than 24 hours before Kierstan Bell got her waiver. After that their best win away from Fayetteville was a neutral-court win over bubble team Wake Forest.

Your right could be Stanford..they'r young and the year after next hav the#1 ranked player coming..a 6'7" girl..yikes

I only saw the last quarter of the ND loss and what struck me was were was Sam Brunnell? Did she foul out early or just not play. Seems odd for a high recruit.

Still don’t understand what happened to Muffet. A legendary career but one bad year and don’t let the door hit you?
Saw her analyzing on SEC network a couple of times. Wore no makeup and really looked old and not kept.

UConn has no true rival now and in the past only ND and TN could even loosely have been called rivals. A real rivalry, at least by my reckoning, involves teams that play frequently, are competitive over the long haul, and generally are in the same conference and/or have a close geographical connection. In men's bball UNC is 140 and 114 against Duke, with campuses 15 miles apart and both dominant teams in a power bball conference. There are many great rivalries on the men's side.

In women's sports rivalries are rare. Women's college bball hasn't been around that long at a completive level. Old Dominion, Texas, La. Tech, then Stanford and UT, and then UConn dominated. None had in-conference teams that challenged them.

UConn v Stanford? 18 total games, with UConn 11-7, 11-4 in games since 1995. Six of the games were in the NCASs, where UConn is 4-2.

UConn v TN? 24 games with UConn winning 15 of them. This was (is?) a rivalry because they were the dominant teams for a long stretch.

UConn v ND? UConn 38-13 all time. They were in the same conference for a stretch and competitive for a few years, but now in different conferences and ND has disappeared.

UConn v SC? UConn is 9-1. Hard to see a rivalry here.

So where are the good rivalries in women's college bball? Games that are circled on calenders year after year, where fans get hyped and arenas filled. Maybe in the PAC 12 - Oregon is 61-41 against Oregon St. Surely there are others, but in wcbb the good teams are mostly islands that don't play each other often.

 Oh come on MM was a home chillin no need for make up. IMO she'll be back in coaching soon- perhaps if Purdue wanted to make a coaching switch next season.

Watched that game, as well. That "big" for Mississippi is fabulous. And the team defense overwhelmed Arkansas. I don't think they can beat Texas A&M, but they are red hot. Today's match-up with Tennessee will be fun to watch.

No Purdue AD would hire a former ND coach, they would be strung up for even thinking of such a travesty.
You are probably right, I didn't account for the needless high level of snobbishness that sometimes get in the way of making these decision. MM is probably too qualified for Purdue anyway. Maybe Cal or Vandy will give MM a call should they decide to move in a different direction.

I watched that game from tip to buzzer. A very entertaining game. Both teams went toe to toe, back and forth, but Ole Miss simply outlasted them. Chelsea Dungee scored her season average of 22 points. She couldn't find the magic against Mississippi like she did against us. She played like she was in a "zone" against us. Everything she threw up went in. Not so last night.

This was the first time I saw Mississippi's post player 6-5 junior Shakira Austin, who transferred in from Maryland. She picked the perfect time to post a new career high/game high of 29 points. Arkansas had no answer for her. She also did a good job guarding the paint. Three blocks / only 2 fouls over 33 minutes. I like her. She can shoot free throws too. 9/9 last night.

Lauren Betts is the 6-7 player you're referring to. The number 1 ranked player for the 2022 class. She's number 1 for a reason, just as Paige Bueckers was in her class. If you think Stanford is tough now, wait till next year.

SC seems to be the next up in establishing a rivalry series, with the talent they have coming in. Starting the series with Stanford again should be exciting as well but I don’t think it would reach the Tennessee or ND level, as Tara doesn’t like to feed into the ugliness required for a rivalry

Miss. State had a defensive plan: (better than ours).
closely guard the 3-point shooters...forget about help.
Ark. had a devil of a time getting open shots.
More often they would heave up a three with their feet not set
(doesn't work)
And that good sized red-headed forward dominated
wonderful competitive spirit
and interesting fashion statements as well.

:D ...if that's your way of kidding, let me know when you get serious!
