I think there is a good chance Muffet was trying to pull a "Geno". Geno tweaked Pat to get the pressure off his kids. Unfortunately, Pat couldn't understand Geno's humor and it unraveled her a bit. Maybe Muffet made a sloppy attempt to get under Geno's skin (minus the humor)
