always thought ND was #2. I wonder what the mood in SC is like. Liked their confidence but seemed a little contrived and too self assured even after the beat down by us.

eh, polls... something to talk about I guess... until the tournament starts...

Makes sense to me. Notre Dame is the number 2. South Carolina can be really good but they have to get used to being an elite team and play like it. I have confidence that if Staley keeps playing UConn she will get to that point. They played Kentucky scared and with no edge although Aja really played with everything she had.

Finally. They've been #2 in my book since October.

Actually probably last May/June when we first started talking about 2014/15

Too bad South Florida didn't make it onto the poll. It would be nice to see UCONN play one more ranked team before the season ends.

South Florida is the first team since Stanford that has sliced us up inside. Sure we won, but we looked a lot slower against them than any team recently, including SC.
They made a good showing against us.

Funny how after the ups and downs of the season, 1 and 2 are pretty much what we expected from November. (I did anyway)

How does Maryland not jump over SC?

I sometimes think the polls are like ice bergs - there is a lot of inertia and it's sometimes hard to move things around.

Example - How long SC stayed at number 1 this season.

But I agree - Maryland has had a great season. Perhaps how they got blasted in last year's tournament carries over in the minds of some of those taking the poll.

Inertia. Excellent description of pollster mentality. Even when there are changes (which should be the antithesis of inertia), the changes reflect a pro forma, i.e., inert, approach to making the change. Win, move up; lose, move down...as though every win was equivalent to every other win and every loss the same as every other loss.

I'm not sure if ND is the 2nd best team or not. They've had the fortune of playing their toughest games on their home court. With all of these teams, it will be interesting to see how they fair in the NCAA tourney on neutral courts.

The rankings at the top were basically gobblegygook before but...
