NCAA Tourney games

And another snoozer. 3 for 3 today. Maybe TCU-Virginia can provide a little bit of interest.

edited to add, of course it was plenty exciting if it was your team administering the curb stomping

The rims seem to be cooperating in this game. Both teams hitting some 3s. TCU jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but all UVa since then.

blowout cities
1) SC 69 40 26 = +135
2) CT 38 53 21 = +112
3) TX 42 42 22 = +106
4) LA 53 19 24 = +96

10th largest MOV for a title team is 156 by UConn 2014

This years winner could top that
South Carolina might top that before the Final Four.

TCU taking control.

So, SC will only win on Monday by 30 instead of 50.
Yeah, I figure they are watching this game, licking their chops, wondering which of these teams they are going to totally crush on Monday.

UVa not quite finished yet. But Miles went into playmaking mode in the second half and it's made a big difference. Suarez was up to 31 points by the end of Q3.

Miles flirting w/ a triple double 20/8/7. She's just toying with them now on some of her drives to the hoop.

if ND and TCU pull off monster upsets in the E8, there would be a Hildalgo-Miles matchup
Maybe the biggest IF in history. While it would be entertaining, we'll probably have to wait for them to be in the WNBA to see them go head to head.

Miles just missed a triple double 28/10/8. Suarez w/ 33/10. Clark and Johnson had 20 and 18 for UVa.

Just to review:

TCU before Campbell...pretty close to nothing
TCU w/ Campbell last 2 seasons 66-9 2X Elite 8 2X Big 12 regular season champ 2X Big 12 Tournament champ
they had some decent years under Mittie before he went to KSt, but nothing like this

That's why I amended before I posted. Originally said they had done nothing, but was giving Mittie some credit by saying almost nothing.

At the risk of going a bit off topic, someone on Reddit made a chart showing the point of origins of the starters on each of the sixteen teams in the Sweet Sixteen. In other words, it's showing each starting player's original school that first recruited them and put them on their roster.

It's obviously easy to tell what some of the teams are, and somewhat harder to figure out the identity of some of the other teams:

Am I crazy for thinking Michigan matches up better with Texas than most?

They have Brook Quarles-Daniels to theoretically bother Harmon, have an elite wing in Olivia Olson, plenty of size on the perimeter, and a strong team defense.

Texas is the favorite and probably wins but this upset wouldn’t floor me. Michigan’s been knocking on the door of beating an elite team all season.
Largely, you need not to give Harmon wide open mid range jumpers.

What is really distressing is when their big guards other than Madison are hitting contested shots.

Now, that their season is over. I will be honest and give you my perspective as a game watcher.

I never got the feeling watching Oklahoma that Verhulst and Beers liked playing with Chavez.
I feel like Chavez shares some of the endearing and infuriating qualities of Arike Ogumbowale. At times she can be electric but most nights she takes too many ill-advised shots too early in the clock without trying to run a set or get her team involved.
