NCAA Tourney games

Niele Ivey and Kara Lawson with 2 of the best turnaround coaching jobs I’ve seen in a long time. Both teams looked just horrible to start the year. Would love the next great coaching rivalries to be between these two and Shea Ralph. All 3 were standouts on powerhouse teams in the same and they’re proving to be some of the better coaches in the game today.

Just dropping in to say thank you UConn for knocking out public enemy #1 and in light of recent events on the men’s side, thank you Duke for taking out the scummiest school in America, LSU. May this be the first of many heart breaks and painful losses for that entire athletic program for the foreseeable future. #BootUp (their backside).

I mean I think even before the Wade crap a good portion of State fans may have rooted for Duke in this one. It’s Kim Mulkey. And they knocked State out last year. But after this dirt bag, shady stuff that happened - 100% of Wolfpack nation was rooting against LSU. I’m not too terribly fond of many SEC schools, but I used to root for SEC in general within that conference most of the time - but man they have plummeted down to UNC levels for me now. I was naive to just how underhanded and slimy their athletic department was.

Ive been complaining since selection Sunday that we shouldn't have been a #3 paired with LSU. I've stopped complaining... Felt great to end The Tigers season after all the yapping they were doing in Durham.

I feel so good for Ashlon Jackson. When she missed those 2 free throws I had a flashback to Lindsey Harding career ending in the 2007 Sweet 16. I grabbed some napkins cause some tears were gonna be shed if we had lost after having that lead deep into the 4th. Win or lose Sunday, she has a place in Duke WBB lore with that shot.

Triad, do you need a medic?

I could use a throat lozenge
Duke snatched defeat from the jaws of victory...but then changed their mind and snatched victory again. Congrats to Coach Lawson and crew. Enjoy as much Cheerwine as you want tonight @triaddukefan !

1. No Cheerwine until the end of Lent

2. Never drink Cheerwine after 6pm if you are trying to go to bed at a normal hour. For years I didn't think Cheerwine had caffeine and I consumed it regularly after midnight. Lesson learned after a dozen or so times

You can have all the talent, rowdy fans, a pocket full of NIL dollars and a thrift shop fashionista as a coach, but it better all add up to TEAM…otherwise…. LSU might have some of the best one on one players, but sometimes a curse can come wrapped in a blessing. LSU starters had TWO assists for the game!

Michigan has 18-2 and 20-2 runs in Q2 and Q3. Louisville got off to a good start but looking dead in the water now. Wolverines up 17 heading into Q4.

.-.
Good win for Michigan. I knew they were the best two seed.

Well… not exactly. Great win though. I doubt they can beat Texas. But I look forward to seeing that game. Assuming Texas can hold up their end of the bargain to make it happen.

Wow Louisville shot 35% overall and 21% from 3. Was Michigan's defense that nasty, or just a bad day? Also 18 TOs.

Am I crazy for thinking Michigan matches up better with Texas than most?

They have Brook Quarles-Daniels to theoretically bother Harmon, have an elite wing in Olivia Olson, plenty of size on the perimeter, and a strong team defense.

Texas is the favorite and probably wins but this upset wouldn’t floor me. Michigan’s been knocking on the door of beating an elite team all season.

Nice win for Michigan. Hard to believe they lost twice recently to Iowa.

They have played UConn, UCLA, Vandy and now Louisville. They won't be intimidated by TX.

TX will be "home" though in Ft Worth.

Intriquing matchup.

A mix of both along with being sped up to play at Michigan's pace. Louisville isn't a transition type of team. They prefer to play at a slower pace.

They panicked and didn't stick to their gameplan when Michigan went on their runs. Exactly what Michigan hopes teams will do when they push the tempo.

Ugh. Had to turn off Texas-Kentucky. Cats are deer in headlights w/ an 18 wheeler running them over. Gonna lose by 60 at this pace. So...still not getting competitive games in the Regional Semifinals. Maybe one more round and we'll get some good games? We did have 2 that came down to the wire yesterday, but with the 2 early games today that's 4 out of 6 that you could turn off long before they were over.

No you're not. The backcourt and wings battle between these teams will be interesting. My question is what can we expect with the play in the paint? Oldacre and Cunningham will be an interesting match up against the likes of Sofilkanich and Dudley.

Kentucky played almost even in Q2, but find themselves behind by 22 at the half. When a Vic Schaefer team scores 48 in a half against you, you know you are in trouble.

Well, the four teams in Fort Worth yesterday shot a collective 18% from three.
So the rims are providing most of the defense?

I did see that clip of the presser with Geno pointing out shooting woes from deep for almost everybody.

.-.
Booker isn't scoring 40 today, that's for sure. Texas with 29 in Q1. Have regressed offensively each quarter, but Kentucky isn't reeling them in at all, so it doesn't matter. I turned it off at 15-3, game was effectively over halfway thru Q1. Yawn.

Sight lines? Lighting? I've noticed the poor shooting percentages as well. It's not all good defense.

Forgive me for posting so much, but another example that Duke's media production team is top of the line.

Michigan shot 47% and Texas shot 55% from the field today. Both teams 3pt FG were over 30% as well. Some teams seem to have adjusted. 🤷🏾‍♀️
