Surprising how many calls that Duke gets down low that we don't...

oh wait, no it isn't. All it is really is typical. The next big man we have that gets away with that aggressive push off that Carlos Boozer (and historically Collin Gillespie) uses constantly will be the first time. Sorry, but in 40 years I've never seen us have a big man who gets away with that move to the point that it is one of his "go to moves" like it is for Boozer. And he NEVER gets called for a foul doing it, no matter how far he pushes the guy with his shoulder and arm. In fact, he often gets the defender called for a foul, like he just did. It's rather ridiculous.

Just saying....
 
Refs havent figured out how to call this one yet. they are cherry picking fouls. evenly but what goes is kind of a mystery. Boozer is allowed to push off at will
 
This may get ugly - StJ's offense is being exposed here. Once stifled they get confused and play really dumb.

As I write, another favorable Duke call on Brown. Duke beating StJ to balls though.

I can't help but notice the physicality of both teams in this game. I know many complain about UConn not having enough athletes, but I think our Achilles heel is not having a lot of physical players. Granted our shooting and finishing at the rim bites us in the ass some times.

Reed Jr is considered our grizzly bear but more often he plays like a teddy bear.

To get past the Spartans and beat either of these two teams we need to execute and shoot at a high level. Also limit dribble penetration which both these teams excel at, and we struggle preventing.

Prey has become a dangerous weapon that keeps the Johnies in games when their starters get into foul trouble.

I duckk*ng hate dook. The foul calls are just absurd. SJ John's will be in deep trouble in the second half.

The refs set dook up for the win.

StJ is doing this with smoke and mirrors so far - 9-18 from 3, 27 of 40 points. Is that their high on the year? They won't sustain that - let's see what Ricky schemes up, because they'll keep getting 3s to shoot.
