“As part of the new revenue-sharing model — beginning in 2025-26 academic year — by-sport scholarship restrictions are eliminated, and schools are permitted to offer scholarships to the entirety of their rosters. The new roster limit figures are not final until the approval of House settlement terms.”

That's all well and good but title ix will still apply to those

If the revenue needs to be shared 50/50 with the women sports due to title IX that will be a positive for UConn.

Hopefully sports like baseball & hockey at UConn can keep up.
Baseball adding 22 schollies is crazy.

You think the portal is crowded now……

Wait until the SEC and BiG load up on top recruits and then shed what they don’t want.

That's already true with NIL

55 people will now be on full scholarship for a sport called tumbling. In other news I just found out that there is a sport called tumbling.
No they won't, it's the maximum amount, not a mandatory allotment

It's a slough category to have a sport to allow for men's sports to have more schollies. You should recall some of the equestrian scandals due to poor treatment of horses as schools needed to have more women's schollies to satisfy title ix

This is moronic. It just further fuels the fundraising arms race that every school finds itself in as the brave new world of NIL/portal takes shape. Now the tin cups will be rattling louder given that 105 scholarships will have to be paid for.

I wonder if any of these new "extra" schollies will be bestowed on the sons of big donors in exchange for a sixth position slot on the QB depth chart? Next I wonder if this was the whole point.

I get that. It’s just odd to me that they are stashing all of these potential Title 9 Mandates under something as unknown as tumbling. Just tack a few more to the backend of sports that schools actually sponsor.

With all these new schollies. I'm sure there will be an increase in administration as well.

… or a decrease in the number of sports sponsored by schools/conferenceS:

Years ago there were no scholarship limits. The big/ wealthy programs were stockpiling players just to keep other schools from getting them. At 1 time i think it was Nebraska that had 150 in their program. In order to spread out the talent, limits were set at 115, then 105, then 95, then 85. JV + Freshman teams were eliminated. However transfer rules were not as easy as they are today. What will be the overall effect of competitiveness of the game ? Only time will tell. Will the P-Conf. gobble up guys that might normally go to a G5 or UConn ?

At least there's NCAA 25 where I can relive the glory days of pre conference realignment and reset the conferences!! Lol!

reality is we're back to an era where stockpiling can occur, the only thing really stopping it is the desire to play and the ability to free transfer. Something will bend in that regard. I think the purpose of "depth scholarships" at this point is about having the best practice squad possible. These operations are becoming more like war machines than football teams.

I definitely undid quite a few moves and made a few other tweaks to get back to some combination of conference alignments that made sense.

This. If anybody thought this helps kids forget it. It’s all about stockpiling and creating more separation between schools with huge revenue share and have-nots.
