"Reduction of one football scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year."

I don't know how the NCAA expects WVU to compete in 2015-2016 with one fewer scholarship in 2013-2014. They really dropped the hammer on them.

One scholarship? For a football team? Like telling a farmer you will be taking one piece of straw out of a bail of hay. Hell, that would probably more heinous of a punishment in WV.

The violations committed by the football program were very, very minor. It was something like 40 texts and 20 phone calls.

They were self-reported and settled without a hearing.

It looks like they couldn't figure out their newfangled compliance software because, well, they're from West Virginia.

I had some great weekends in Morgantown, while in college, that I don't remember very well... but then I was only visiting. :D

Back in the day I messed around with a WVU girl, and she was spectacular. Just a side note to round out this thread.

Have you been? You try living there sober.

Morgantown is a terrible, terrible place.

At least whaler & Jimmy won't need to wear name tags at the first "Boneyard Meet and Greet" ..... :p

So who did they punish?

University? No
Team? No
Coach? No
A SCHOLARSHIP PLAYER - DUH...someone, somewhere is without a FB Scholorship

If it wasn't something like 14 different programs, and I'm assuming contacts made with recruits who actually competed for their teams, I wouldn't have bothered to post. So while I'm not outraged there's still plenty of sour grapes when you compare these penalties to the Nate Miles sanctions.
