............ We all bemoaned how terribly Temple got hosed and how disrespected the AAC is.

As a type this, plenty of time left, but UCLA is handling SMU pretty easily right now.

That's right. Our regular season AND Conference Champion being handled by pretty much the last At large team in the tournament, and one that many of us (and tons around the country ) said did not even belong in the tourney.

I thought I couldn't feel any lower about UConn's lot in life after last night and the talk today, but this will be the "3" in the "everything happens in threes" deal. We will be down to a one bid league by next year. And deservedly so.

What a crap day.

No. Iowa State losing doesn't prove anything about their season, and neither would SMU. Teams sneak into the tourney and make noise all the time. Tennessee, Quinn Snyder in Missouri a few years back, VCU
The AAC is a big problem, but today's outcome won't be the reason why.

The Big 12 is an established P5 league. They can afford those blows. The AAC which is already the obvious laughing stock of the NCAA, cannot.

That's stupid.

The Big 12 was considered the best conference in the country this year.

Two of their teams got kicked by 14-seeds and a third is losing to a 6-seed.

But the AAC is the one failing the litmus test?

D- for effort, F for content.

I hate the post hoc rationalizations with bubble teams. Should Iowa State not have gotten an at large bid because they lost to UAB?

Hell, look at their resume and George Mason shouldn't have made it in the tournament. Objectively. And they were like the last team in. And we saw what happened there.

March is cray. One game, anything can happen.

Unfortunately no one will even remember SMU is from the AAC. No one cares or heard of the AAC. We just need to do whatever we can to get out of this league. Hopefully, our admin is going that.

Inyatkin said it well.

But when I saw SMU's opponent I was thinking, 'Crap.'

.-.
Down 34-44, they're up 51-44. That's like a 17-0 run.

Who knows, UCLA may still find a way to pull this out, but it's garbage. It was more likely nerves. No one on SMU even sniffed the NCAAs in their past.

Pressure in the NCAAs is far greater than the NIT.

.-.
5-0 UCLA run.

The board's opinions hang in the balance.

2-0 run followed by a 3-0 run by UCLA. Can either team be stopped?

Huge choke, but still ahead by 2 with 22 seconds to go

And Larry brown is going to retire after this tournament.

I just saw him mouth, "I'm sick to death of this s---. I've had enough."

Incredibly stupid goaltend on a 3 by Moreira that almost certainly wasn't going in and then Nic Moore misses 2 good looks. UCLA 60-59 SMU

We've had plenty of disappointment this season but SMU ends up having the biggest letdown. They must be going apes**t over in Ponyland.

Choke

Horrible call on goaltending

Ball wasn't near the rim

Why did CBS/TruTV repeatedly show that bad angle?

Side angle showed the ball wasn't near the rim.

.-.
That was a total screw job that just gave UCLA the victory. Ridiculous. I thought Nick Moore should have drove to the basketball and tried to get fouled in the end. Regardless, refs took this one away from SMU with a ridiculous call.

Ball was likely going to touch the rim and was on its way down. That is a goaltend.

The side angle showed ball was wide of the rim with spare inches, as Verne Lundquist said a number of times.

If you're looking at it from the overhead angle, you can't tell, because after Moreia tips it the ball actually comes up over the rim before not touching it.,

Boat would have made those shots Nic the troll missed. We should have gotten an at large...

But they are only showing the p-5 replays.
