I guess a lot of them already are, so it just recognizes that its happening and that it shouldn’t impact the college game. But still. How far a step is it for someone that uses an app to bet professional sports to throw in a college game in now and then? And then maybe one that you’re playing in…

IMO absolutely no good can come of this. None. But those FanDuel, MGM, DraftKings etc. partnerships are tough to resist. Just ask the four major professional sports leagues.

And this doesn't even address the burgeoning prediction markets.

This is insanity. Legalized sports gambling is a scourge and this will end horribly.

College sports are just gross now.

Horribly.

Absolutely horribly.

Online gambling and lotteries are the weirdest ideas where the government decides that a partnership designed to make people with little money into people with no money is something where they want a financial stake.

A friend told me last night his younger brother just revealed to his family why his wife took the kids and left him. He lost well over $150K making sports bets on his phone and taking cash advances to try and dig out of the hole.

So many people are being ruined with the legalization and ease of sports gambling.

One of your best posts. No way around it. Even when people win there is a darkness to it.

Another story for you. One of our office tenants stopped paying rent and I had to take them to court. The founder of this small company told me that an employee was fired for "financial improprieties" and that's why they were in trouble. He told me before our court appearance that the CFO had stolen $2 million from the business. I said I hope they're going after this person for the money. He said all the money is gone because the CFO was an addicted gambler and lost all of it. The founder himself said he lost $500,000 of his own money because of this.

Just brutal.

I remember betting football parlays IN middle & junior high school, in the 1970s and 80s! ... and later in life hitting Hartford Jai Alai almost daily after work, for years, until the strike ruined things ...

Access to gambling has always been easy ... imho, it's a sickness less driven by access, and more by the individual and their choices

Wait until the day comes when Draft Kings buys the naming rights to the final four.
It's not far off, after all, we had The Poulan/Weed Eater Independence Bowl, and (Crypto, Flipto, Blipto) FTX did have a run with the Miami Heat
