Here's how it's looking after my vote.

I'm a UConn fan and a Lou lover. But I stuck in my thumb and pulled out a Plum.

By the way anyone notice that when Lou celebrates a good pass after a bucket she doesn't point but rather gives a thumbs up?

Do you really think Plum is a better PLAYER than Katie Lou?/ Scorer, maybe, not Player. The award isn't for Scorer of the Year-

With me if it's even close I go with the senior. Lou has 2 more years and a championship under her belt. College ball is where women get their hour in the sun. Let's let Plum enjoy hers.

Plum broke an NCAA D1 women's basketball record that stood for for 16 years (since 2001). That accomplishment must be recognized. Now, it will be interesting to see how long Plum holds on to it.

Based on what stats would KLS be a better PLAYER than Plum ?
57 lPoints do not a Player make---all the things that are not in the stats --are what determines a Player---Lou like KML started out a scorer and became a top rated player--a dependable passers, guard, scorer, rebounder (forget geno's needles) defender and teammate---
Some great players can score with the best--Lou is that one this year..

Yes I think Plum is better. I love Uconn but I give Plum the nod over Lou. I do think Lou is taller lol. Plum can do it! Don't let the scoring record cloud your judgement. She is not a one trick pony.

I hope you have other reasons.

Lou's 10-10 3pts in 28 mins is NBA and NCAA history world record not just NCAAW.
Can Plum do it, now or future?

Rachal Banham was a celebrated prolific scorer. She scored a lot more than Breanna Stewart last season.

I think KLS vs. Plum is the wrong argument. It should be Collier vs. Plum or even Gabby. I would be interested to see how the poll would have gone with Collier's name in the list.

Not to mention Plum doesn't have a teammate anywhere near as good as Collier to take defensive attention away from her, nor 4 other starters anywhere near as good as UConn's again to occupy the defense.

Agreed. Both Collier and Williams should be on that list. Unfortunately, that would split the UCONN's fans' votes. I would select them in this order:

  • 1. Plum
  • 2. Williams and Collier (Tie)
  • 4. Samuelson
  • 5. Wilson
  • 6. Nurse

So you mean, Katie Lou should score more points per game because her teammates are so good, and took some points from her?

Chantel Osahor is #1 (15.3 rpg) in rebound in the country, and she does not take defensive attention away from Plum? (DI Women's Basketball Statistics - NCAA.com)

Osahor is a nice player, but she isn't averaging 20 ppg. shooting 68% from the floor like Collier. I know you nor anyone else on this board is going to try to argue that Osahor is better than Collier. Osahor is an incredible rebounder. Almost all of those are on the defensive end, which does what exactly when UW has the ball on offense?

Samuelson of course could score more if she played on a team w/ less balance offensively and she took more shots. The ridiculous argument that Plum is "just a scorer" should be resoundingly silenced when you look at stats. More rebounds, assists and steals than Samuelson, and better FG% despite being a higher volume shooter, plus having less teammates the opposing defense has to game plan for. Can you see the point?

Kaizen - she tied the men's NCAA record.
Plum is flirting with being a 180 player (50% field goal, 40% three, 90% FT) falling short only by a little with her FT percentage so she is not just a scorer but an incredibly efficient one, and she has more assists per game and more rebounds. She is not a world class defender but neither is Lou and the are both pretty decent. They are both highly intelligent basketball players, but Plum has a couple of more years of experience and I think she is the NPOY this year. Will Lou be a better player as a senior and when looking back on their respective careers, probably, but that is as much a accident of genetics giving Lou a long 6'3" body. And it gets down to questions like who is a better player Sue or Maya - they are both fantastic in very different packages.
