If we’re being honest, based on stolen bids and the criteria the committee showed, seems like our chances at an at-large this year would’ve been approaching 0%. Thrilled that it doesn’t matter for this year, but certainly instructive for future years.Rutgers was snubbed. A lesson learned for UConn….a weak Big 10 combined with a weak OOC schedule can be an issue with the committee. We can never count on the BE being a two bid league. Very unlikely that UConn would have been in w/out the tourney win.

The committee hugely valued non conference SOS this year. GCUs was 10.How Grand Canyon got in ahead of multiple other teams baffles me
It's a 1 bid league because ECU won the conference tournament. If they didn't it would have been a 2 bid leagueIf the American was a one-bid league, how is ECU the 8th best team in the field? If they didn't win their tornament they'd miss Omaha? That makes no sense.
Grand Canyon beat Stanford and Oregon State in non conference, took 2 of 3 in their season series against Arizona, and swept Texas Tech. Also ended up going 12-6 against teams that ended up in the field. Not saying they were shoe-in but I don’t think many teams that didn’t get in can be mad at Grand CanyonHow Grand Canyon got in ahead of multiple other teams baffles me

Rutgers seems like a natural choice. It would help us bothIn past years, I remember the committee looking at UConn's non-conference SOS and giving it leeway because there just aren't any good teams -- and only a small number of decent teams -- close enough to play weekday non-conference games against. Rutgers has the same problem we do. There is a lot we can do with our pre-conference weekend trips, but little we can do about the strength of opponents within 100 miles of Storrs.

One (minor) positive to the new BE set up is we only have 8 conference weekends so we have one or two extra for OOC matchups vs other conferences with more in conference weekends.Chris Jones said during game broadcasts this season that UConn and Rutgers will be playing each other in the future. I think he said that next season they are currently scheduled to play a weekend series in Storrs.

The dimensions really concern me. Seems to be similar to that of Georgetown's park. Both Maryland and Wake are HR hitting teams. Pitching is going to have to be on like they were against Xavier in BE tourney. Going to be some long balls. Also, we tend to get big eyes in smaller ball parks and swing for fences. Hope they can refrain from doing that and keep the pop ups down.Details of Shipley. Its playing surface is FieldTurf (dirt mound) and the dimensions are 320 down the left field line, 385 to center and 325 down the right field line.
Maryland is number 2 in team home runs with 121. Wake is number 7 with 108.
I totally agree. Hopefully, the team learned some lessons at Georgetown that can be applied this weekend. The dimensions really concern me. Seems to be similar to that of Georgetown's park. The Maryland field is not an absolute joke like the G'town field. Although 320 and 325 directly down the lines it goes quickly out to 360+ well before the traditional "power alleys" It is just as deep or even deeper to right center and left center than it is to centerfield. So there is a bit of a power hitter advantage directly down the lines and to straight away centerfield. The Georgetown field was maybe 350 to left and right center and the 375 to centerfield seemed like a bit of an exaggeration. The dimensions really concern me. I can’t really tell the wind, feels like it’s blowing in from left or left to right but yes the field is playing small. Stock and Huber had no issue putting balls over the batters eye during batting practice today. The dimensions really concern me. Seems to be similar to that of Georgetown's park.
