NCAA again investigating UNC

You think it's open and shut?

The NCAA has made 'open and shut' cases go away in the past when it comes to ACC heavyweights.

For starters, they tried to make this case go away already - they got dragged back into it.

Second, Duke was all set to be sanctioned by the NCAA for the Magette kerfuffle. Even an NCAA spokesman said the axe should fall....

"Duke University did not know and was not in a position to know that it had an ineligible player," NCAA public information coordinator Jane Janikowski said. "I expect they will lose 45 percent of the revenue earned at the 1999 NCAA tournament, plus an automatic vacation of their performance in the tournament. In all the cases that have been similar to this one, that is what the precedent has been."

So, I'll believe UNC will suffer when I see it. At a minimum, they deserve two postseason bans - if we got one for being honest and reporting our APR scores, UNC deserves one year for the academic performance, one year for knowingly reporting falsified grades and the vacation of their title.

Good Points. I was being too optimistic and naive.

The NCAA means business this time: North Carolina Central is about to get the death penalty.

I was going to say UNC - Ashville but that might be too harsh. They've made the tourney in the past 20 year. NC Central is a lock to get a postseason ban.

I'm also fairly certain that we will see the NCAA re-open the Nate Miles investigation in the coming days. Remember, they will need to penalize somebody after they don't penalize UNC.

Major Investigation: Uconn student-athletes APR scores are ok, but they have sloppy handwriting. UConn fostered a culture of bad penmanship.

If that doesn't say lack of institutional control I don't know what does

I believe the NCAA has to go after UNC this time. Every person/group suing the NCAA will point to exhibit A regarding the NCAA’s so called defense of academic integrity within amateur, unpaid, collegiate athletics.
