Has anyone noticed the completely different reactions of supporters of schools and fans when the European Super League was proposed vs the creation of a collegiate super league?
In Europe, mass protests because they understood what it would it mean to the smaller clubs, their finances, rivalries, and the history behind it all. Even the fans of the big boys stood up to say no.
In the US, the complete capitulation by the hundreds of schools, millions of alumni and fans of schools throughout the entire NCAA, including D2 and D3 to a select small group of schools.
