Comparing UConn to Penn State is a folly.
Show me someone who says what you said, and I'll show you someone who hasn't been very successful in life.

My life lesson for the day. "Think small and you will always be small." It's not too late to change. You're welcome.

UConn should be compared to BC, Syracuse and Rutgers. That's it.
And how exactly was I comparing UConn to Penn State? 100k to 40K is not a comparison, it's a reference point. Tons of the Penn State fans traveled 2-3 hours for the game and our fans complain about an hour drive to the Rent....

I didn't say you were. I was pointing out to the guy i quoted that there are comparable programs and no one, including you, were trying to compare UConn to Penn State.

Jim Mora is a classy guy but I’m not so I will say what he wants to say but can’t. I am willing to take the heat for these comments im about to say.

If you have the opportunity to go to this game especially if it’s free and don’t then you stink, you are a complete and utter joke. Your not a UConn fan.

Love the SEC vibe here.
I'll take it one step further. If you haven't started tailgating yet you are a complete and utter joke.

I don't know how to feel about this statement.

500 bus tickets gone in an hour. Hopefully the rest of the students have rides...

This was a problem when I was a student from 2005-2010 too. The season tickets would sell out in early August before the freshmen even got to campus and bus tickets were hot commodities and always sell out. There was an entire secondary market for them.

It's both good and bad we're getting back to those times haha.

This is the kind of attitude we need to get rid of, of course it has to be UConn’s own doing to change that perception.

That’s the whole point. You have to cultivate new fans. He understands that.

Why? They are regional FBS schools within driving distance. Let me clarify. When they knock our attendance, we need to be close to their level on attendance figures if not in exact numbers in terms of capacity. No one would suggest we should be compared to PSU that regularly draws 100k.

We are the state flagship university of CT. Our goal should be like Penn State. We definitely have more potential than Cuse, BCU, and RU. If UCONN football can win regularly, we can be like the #2 program in the Northeast.

Who is your #1?

Maybe we should fly all the BIG 12 ADs, including Brett Yormark, and that (think male member) James Phillips to the game.

This thread makes me feel like I'm watching a horse race.

"They're coming around the final turn now, 21-25k and 26-30k are neck and neck, but here comes 30k+ making a strong move on the outside!". "Under 20k has faded badly so it looks like we've got a three horse race now as they head into the final stretch!" "Can 30k+ pull it out, does he have anything left in the tank?"

"What a race folks! 26-30K still has the lead heading into the final furlong, but 21-25k has faded to 3rd and may be running out of gas. It looks like a two horse race now! 30K+ is looking strong and coming up fast on the outside but can he close the distance? What a race! Who would have thought 30k+ would make it this close? Wow!"

A new category of 35K+ may be needed.

Maybe, but fan bases are built over long periods of time. Up to 1960, Penn State's stadium held 30k and they expanded to 46.2k. In 1972, they expanded to 57.3k. They won and they kept on expanding.

In business, you don't grow unless you have a vision, invest, and show success.

Big difference between vision and delusion.

Concessions and PARKING could be a problem.
If there are actually 32 thousand or more fans at the game, at least half of them won't be used to coming. Which means that, as we get close to game time, parking will be a mess (because everyone will be stopping to talk to the parking attendants as to what to do) and getting through security will be a mess. Get there early and get in early. Not to please others but for your own sanity.,

That assumes that these thousands of folks who Benedict distributed tickets to actually come. I'm from Missouri on this one but I'd rather the stadium be full then empty.

I would love to, but i pick my kid up at 530 from practice. In the past that lets me be in my seat by 730sh, since im about 35 minutes away and know the best ways to get there. Will probably listen to some on the radio.

All in all i consider this a good problem for the school.

Seems to be always a s fest for first game, even if 16k come...
