Assuming, of course, we don't suffer the same fate.

One of the nice aspects about the ACC playing before us is that everyone can see the early upsets and try to prevent any more close to home. Of course, the underdogs get encouraged as well.

The QF will likely be against Rutgers, who we SHOULD be able to beat fairly handily. That's still always a possble danger game, though.. After that, we're scheduled to face St John's and Notre Dame, and if we can't get up for those games, there's a problem.

I wouldnt mind if State won.... they definitely will have the crowd behind them tomorrow. Gonna be interesting to see how many Duke fans show up tomorrow and Sunday. Ill be there with my Duke shirt on.... rooting for State and Miami. Assuming Miami gets by Wake tonighT.

Miami is down 37-23 at the half.

yeah, Miami was my first thought before Maryland, but then again it could be NC State!
Well that is a shocker, but we are in March:) Miami is losing to WF at the half 38-23! So who knows what will happen with Miami? Considering Duke's position ranked #5 prior to tournament they will probably hold on to #2 seeding. MD,Miami, and Delaware are along with Duke ranked between 5 and 8.

Ugh. I was just reminded of the existence of Hardee's watching this Wake-Miami game.

My husband used to manage a Hardees. A lifetime ago, and our cholesterol level dropped as soon as quit. Haven't eaten there in over 25 years

Miami down 11 with 11:25 to go.

Can they make up 1 point per minute?

Can UVa upset the Terps?

Just got some Hardee's coupons in the mail..... now that my appetite has returned after the Duke loss.... I could use a filling meal.

I didn't know they even existed anymore!

When I was a kid Hardees did a promotion with Looney Tunes characters on drinking glasses. Every week you could collect Tweety, Bugs Bunny, etc. Don't remember the food, just those glasses. Guess that says something!

I love this time of year. Not wishing an upset on Duke...I just love the unpredictability of the tournaments, and there wasn't always a lot of that in women's basketball in some past years.

Unpredictability is good..... just not this year. Im absolutely excited to see the GaTech-NC State, Wake Forest vs MD/UVA games tomorrow in person.

Cheer on the Jackets for me.

You beat us earlier in the season without our first team BE player, I wouldn't look past us especially when all past Rutgers teams get better in March. And teams with a bunch of seniors shouldn't be overlooked either. :p

MD is 380 miles from RI and 300 miles from Raleigh - negligible. In contrast, Duke is 10 miles from Raleigh and 700 miles from RI. I don't see Terps displacing Devils.

Back in 2009..... Duke and Maryland were both #1 Seeds... they sent Maryland to Raleigh... and Duke out West. They had about 350 people in a 19,700 seat arena for the Regional Final between MD and Louisville. I guess the hotels and restaurants in Raleigh would prefer Maryland.... but not sure if the NCAA's want a repeat of 2009.

But we're not comparing Raleigh and out West. We're comparing Raleigh and RI. With MD almost 1/2 way in between, I don't see a compelling reason to put them in Raleigh.

In fairness, UConn beat Rutgers by 32 without Rushdan less than a month ago. Although I expect a closer game, 32 points is a lot for one player to mean to a team.

I guess we'll see if Rutgers gets past whoever they play tomorrow. :)

It's about the S curve of the top 8. If Maryland somehow ends up being ranked higher then Duke they will go to Raleigh. That's the whole reason ND will be in Raleigh. Kingston is less then a 100 miles further then Raleigh and closer to ND's conference territory and their alumni base but they won't be sent there. They don't assign sites by comparing teams locations. If Duke somehow would have been able to get a #1 seed they wouldn't get Raleigh unless they are ranked higher then ND.

Do not count on the women's committee following the S-curve strictly. They are allowed to bring other things like potential crowd into consideration.

The committee also looks at 'combined distance' in assigning sites - or at least they sometimes do!
