I mean looking at it unbiased, Mac is insane, the car dunk was ridiculous. Steph was incredible himself but the best dunker won it so I can’t be mad.
Haven’t watched the Dunk Contest in years. Decades really. Holy cow .
Mac is extremely creative with his use of props. Blew my mind! Definitely the
DUNK KING again (third time I guess). And he’s like 6’1” ?
Steph acquitted himself very well, showing mad hops along with some trickerated flourishes. He was competitive but not the level of showmanship of Mac.
I don’t know what to say about Andre.

Well next year Castle is hopefully an Allstar and not in this dunk contest it’s already predetermined next year to Mcclung to win anyways, Andre needs a redo next year he’s better then this.

Honestly, this was the best dunk of the finals. Maclung'd car dunk probably best of the night.
Through the legs too and I’ve never seen a made basket dunked or even attempted in a contest before. Should have been a straight 50.

In one half of a season, Castle has stepped up to be that guy. He's becoming a household name and you can't help but think he's about to rack up some seriously historic stuff with Wemby.

It wasn't to the level of LaVine Aaron Gordon or Jordan Nique but like those there will be some people who thought Castle won this or they at least should've had a third dunk dunk off. I think most people think Aaron Gordon and Nique threw down the most impressive dunks in their contests.

The NBA kind of put themselves in this predicament, with G leaguers in to bring back the dunk contest, now it’s kind of back fired where NBA guys get robbed because of Mcclungs props and reputation his dunks were impressive but Castle’s were better. It was really Lebron that ruined the dunk contest.

.-.
Castles name is definetly going viral across social and mainstream media, the notion will be that he got robbed.

Is McClung even a basketball player? He looks like a stuntman out of Cirque de Soleil. His LinkedIn title should be Professional Jumper. I mean shouldn’t one part of qualifying be an actual NBA player? No one is beating that guy.

Good for Steph, he was in it till the end and made some sweet dunks, and built that brand.

Ajax had a look on his face the same as mine when I look at his box scores, uninspired. Wish he at least looked like he wanted to be there.

I had no idea Castle had this kind of easy silly bounce until he made the NBA. He's throwing down absurd dunks with ease.
We’ve seen this power plenty of times in game, but definitely agree we haven’t seen this level of bounce and hang time from him previously. Glad to see he has it in him. If he can pull that out during games it’ll really push him to the next level popularity wise.

They should do it like HORSE, Castle could pull f Mclung’s dunks, Mclung needs a lot of help getting the ball in place so he can throw it down.

I don't think either of them could do each other's dunks. I think McClung is awesome but I preferred Castle's creative power dunks. It reminded me a bit of Nique and Vinsanity.

.-.
The two ball dunk was awful. Kid spinning on the hoverboard was like 5’5. Dunking a ball already stationary on the rim??

The problem is if they expand it to non players some of those pro dunkers would win all the contests. I got no problem with McClung being in it because he's a legit player who should get a legit NBA shot.
Oh 100%. I think that would change the way it’s perceived though. And like you said, Mac is the best dunker, had incredible dunks, and also deserves a shot. I mean he won G league MVP, i’m surprised he hasn’t gotten more of a call.

I didn't watch, was AJ as bad as the twitter chatter? When he got selected I had asked if he's ever done a dunk contest before as it needs more creativity than what we've seen of AJ's in game dunks, I couldn't find any video of one. Good to see Castle did much better than his McDAA dunk contest performance.

First round he had like 5 attempts and tried like 3 different dunks, before settling for a relatively standard two handed slam to get on the board. Round 2 was similar. Missed the first 2-3 attempts of his plan A then went to and made a windmill to score points. He definitely looked anxious

Jackson and Buzelis were terrible. Castle and McClung were awesome.

Yeah I’m feeling major hater energy for Mac right now, maybe it’s from the loss today. The constant glazing from the announcers was nauseating, you would think the NBA gave them a directive to hype him up for the viewers.

Gotta give Mac credit for figuring out nobody dings you points for staging the ball in the perfect spot for your dunk. He gets max vertical on every attempt because he takes all the timing/reaction time factors away that make other dunks, like castles, harder to pull off.

I mean seriously on the spinner dunk the second ball was literally placed on the rim, there should be some kinda rule where they can’t have the ball staged that close.

The car dunk he didn’t even clear it, kinda takes away from it if you’re being objective. The still shot of him in the air is incredible though.

Steph’s between the legs dunk was the best of the contest, in real time it looked impossible.

Woulda loved to see if castle had anything planned for a third round, you know Mac probably did.

.-.
Steph was robbed. Mac got by on his same exact dunk he does every time, and they weren’t as good as Castles. Boo this contest.

Good job Stephon and AJ. You guys made me smile after the loss. Good luck in the NBA and I wish both of you the best with your future.

He missed a lot of dunks and ended converting dunks that he does in games.

I wish they would replace the skills competition with knockout.

Line these all stars up at the three point line and let's go.

Steph chimes in with his 2 cents about the winner:
Castle added: “His dunks are crazy. I would give all his dunks 50s too.”

NBA allstar weekend continues to be a joke, I wonder how many people turned it off after CP3 cheated, that was just a very bad look for the NBA.

Kenny Smith and Reggie Miller are so annoying. Castle is just built different he's like a 90s player playing in this era, great moment for the Castle family last night, didn't know his father played a year with Tim Duncan at Wake that's very cool.

It's possible his knee injury sapped the very top end of his athleticism for a lot of his time here.
I still feel his dunk against Illinois just sitting in the 300s section, ironically only had 2 pts in that game. I knew he had it in his arsenal.

Am I the only one who thinks Mac's dunks were kinda wack? A lot of pomp and circumstance but... dunking a ball that's hovering over the rim while dunking another one from another guy spinning on a hoverboard?
Yes but he also jumped over a fricken car!

I was impressed with Steph's hops last night. Looked like his head was almost at rim level on some of them!

Peeps coming to Steph’s defense around McClung not being in the NBA. That of which I kinda get, as where do you then draw the line? Why not bring in some Olympic high jumpers..
