NBA Preseason 2025

Hawkins should definitely get a mulligan for last year with the nagging back injury and playing through that issue. He said he has been pain free all off season and I think we see a much better product on the floor this year. Definitely looking forward to seeing him play.

Side note on that Pelicans game, Dash Daniels played off the bench for Melbourne United. Had 11 points, 6 boards and 1 assist. He was one of the players on the Furphy lead Australian team this past summer (and looked pretty dreadful in that capacity). I always find it fascinating how some players can look so vastly different in different circumstances.

Wouldn’t consider that a good game for Hawkins. 33% and 25% from three against a non-NBA team. But with Dejounte Murray injured to start the season, Hawkins should have plenty of opportunities to show out

Newton got a few minutes yesterday. Hit a three pointer in 3 minutes

Drummond came off the bench for 7 points and 11 rebounds

Liam plays today at 5pm against the reigning champs OKC

Not UConn, but Tyler Kolek got some time yesterday with the Knicks. Took 9 shots in 14 minutes, and missed 8 of them..

Cam Spencer played yesterday, 9 points in 15 minutes on 2-5 FG (2-3 3P). Didn’t watch the game but the bench seems to have gotten destroyed. Cam was a -15, Scottie Pippen Jr was a -30 in 19 minutes. Cedric Coward -22 in 18 minutes

Andre had 13 minutes off the bench. 2 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals

Non-UConn: Cooper Flagg had 10 points and 6 rebounds on 50% in his debut. Cade Cunningham had 20 points on 8-11 in 18 minutes, damn. Kel’El Ware 18 points and 13 rebounds in 23 minutes. Nuggets starters went crazy - Braun 19 on 8-8, Jokic 17 on 5-5, Murray 17 on 6-10, Cam Johnson 11 on 4-6

Cade Cunningham is ready to be in MVP conversations. Same with Wemby. Think both of those guys are ready to make those great players to great winners jump.

Newton got 20 minutes last night. Scored 9 points on 1-4 (the 1 being a three) and 6-8 on FTs. 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 turnovers. A game high +18 but not sure how much of that was a product of being on the floor with Johnny Juzang, who went insane and hit 6 threes in 13 minutes

Non UConn: Matas Buzelis on the Bulls had a really good game with 19 points on 64% in 18 minutes. Will be fun to watch his development, he’s had an interesting career already

I guess Castle has a minor injury, didn’t play against the Heat. Sounds like a knee thing

Clingan played 11 minutes, not sure why so low as the rest of the starters were around 20. 4 points, 7 rebounds (6 offensive). Was against the Warriors but 6 offensive rebounds in 11 minutes is actually insane lol

Cam had 16 minutes off the bench. 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals

Non UConn: Ace Bailey showed out in his preseason debut, 25 points on 11-16. Looks like Reed Sheppard is the Rockets’ starting PG now that Van Vleet is out. Kel’El Ware is ready to make a jump. 29 points, 12 rebounds on 12-19 FG and 3-6 from three….in 26 minutes

The Warriors were down 19 after the third quarter. They won by 6.

Buzelis is a fun watch. YouTube his rookie season dunks. Some funny videos of guys going up to challenge the kid and realizing mid jump that there going to be on a poster. As a Bulls fun I’m excited to see his growth this season.

Watched Clingan and the Blazers today. Donovan didnt play a ton. Looked ok.

Warriors 2nd team was fun at the end. I know hes been talked about on this board before, but Pat Spencer has the most unique path to the pros.... maybe ever. Was a star NCAA lacrosse player. Then plays one year of NCAA basketball.... then NBA. Totally crazy. Doesnt seem possible.

Never understood how he fell in the draft, they don't make a ton of 6'10 guys with ball skills.

Quiet night for UConn last night

Andre got 11 minutes off the bench, hit a three and grabbed a rebound

McNeeley got 10 minutes. Shot 0-2, finished with 2 points on FTs. 2 assists

Newton got 5 minutes and hit a three

Non-UConn: Cade Cunningham went nuts again, 26 points on 8-15, 6 rebounds, 6 assists…..in 18 minutes. Jevon Carter (old WVU guy) hit 4 threes in 11 minutes. Knueppel also struggled 8 points on 3-11 in 24 minutes while Kalkbrenner had a solid game, 8pts/7reb in 11 minutes. Rob Dillingham and Terrence Shannon both played 20+ minutes and Bones Hyland played 18, so seems the Wolves have picked their backcourt rotation

Appreciate these reports - nice to have this info consolidated in one place.

Looking back on the first post of this thread regarding Hawkins - kid is such a rhythym shooter, just seems like he'll never be productive if he's not getting some consistency in how he operates.

Don’t know how you simultaneously have hair and don’t have hair like this.
The Stevie Wonder hair no hair. Can’t pull back the locks like that. You end up pulling them right out!

It's kind of crazy how poorly he was coached in college TBH. A kid with that skill set should have been much better.
Mgabko and Reneau may be absolute beasts this year out from under the dark cloud known as Mike Woodson.
