NBA Mock Drafts Thread

The dangerous thing about this draft is that there’s so much talent. It would be so easy to slip unexpectedly. This first round is so loaded.

In hindsight, McNeeley and Hawkins could have stayed one more year.

AK dipped twice and came back.

Mullins I would say is 85% gone and factoring that for our portal needs for next season, but man if he stays one more year...
*Once, AK only went through the pre-draft process after his sophomore year

The first 20-25 picks are loaded, then it eases up a bit to where you mind find some of the better upperclassmen go.

What is he making here?
Yes, this does change the calculus versus 10 years ago, and frankly is why we've gotten 4 years of Alex Karaban instead of 2.

But it's not going to be the same for Mullins, who will make considerably more as a 1st round pick.

.-.
That ain't happening - he's going top 20 minimum.
That's what they said about McNeeley about being a lotter pick. If he gets NIL money plus tev share it may be more than a pro contract. That's why people are suing to play college ball to get eligibility. This is happening both in football, look at Aguilar and Chambliss. Katraban did that last year too. He will realize that and stay, that's my bet.

That's a heckuva bet. I was once mildly in your camp, but now that I've seen him play and where his buzz is, it's a safe bet that he's outta here.

It just depends on what mock is being looked at.

They have two 7’s in front of Mullins in that USA Today mock. Which can be super valuable for a team in need of a center.

Having two reliable centers for the first time (and Kon of course) is probably a good reason for Charlotte’s run currently.

Hurley is no longer "talking guys out of leaving", per his recent press conference. As good and talented as Mullins is, we were saying the same thing about Hawk, and most recently Liam. You wanna tell me that Liam wouldn't have benefited from staying another year? I hope that this kid comes back for HIS own sake. I wanna see a UConn guard live up to the hype in the NBA. The last one was Napier and the last shooting guard? crap that was Hamilton, right? This kid can be the next guy when he is ready.

.-.
I put this in the mock draft thread (tried to have all mock draft convo in one place to make it easy to find), but it’s interesting to see the stats of everyone in the top 20 and then Mullins. Outside of the Kentucky center, he’d be the most potential vs production pick at this point.

First, 40% of the season left to go to showcase his skills. Second, if he's going lottery you go no matter if another year helps. My whole angle was that if we wasn't being seen as a top 20 pick, then it might make sense for him to roll it back into a week class next year. I'll hold out there is a 1% chance, certainly not confident.

Swain & Conwell going late first/early second shows how strong Xaviers backcourt was last year, and how the BE lost more than they got in the portal season.

Good lord, they don't draft on stats.

Mullins was one and done before he even stepped on campus.

Once he returned from the injury Liam played awful outside of the Creighton game so his actual draft position made sense, and tbh if it wasn't for the HS rep he probably doesn't go first round with the shooting splits he put up. Braylon has the runway to play into that draft position if he stays healthy. Guys like those 6th year football QBs are apples to oranges comparisons to Braylon's situation. The money they would make an NIL dwarfs being a late round pick and trying to make an NFL roster.

I'm pretty sure Castle has more than lived up to the hype. He was Rookie of the Year, wasn't he?

If Liam came back he may not even go in the first round. The draft strengths are entirely different. Love Liam, but he's not what I would call unique talent.

Liam is making a hell of a lot more in the league than he would from NIL.
