Atrocious coaching by Thibs. He has his best players standing at the scorers table and never calls a timeout to get them back in as the Pistons take the game over and win.
Thibs is an idiot but the players played like idiots as well.

Thibs cannot be gone soon enough. He's exactly what everyone knew he was when he was hired

First two calls to Hurley and Jay Wright.
My fear.

Not sure there is a sport where the delta in physicality and intensity is wider from reg season to playoffs.

Round two is where the real matchups begin.

I don't get the Knicks. Bridges is way too good to spend as much time drifting through games as he does. Towns can disappear for long stretches. I get Brunson has been great but he's so ball dominant it hurts the team.

It’s just a hard team to watch in the Knicks- last year’s team was much more appealing to the eye. They have no bench & they have totally lost their defensive integrity & rebounding edge. I know it’s crazy to say & hear, but in a lot of ways Hartenstein is a better player & fit than Towns. To be honest I am pretty confident the Thunder are winning it all. Even if the Knicks win the series verse the Pistons- next round they are going to get smoked by the Celtics.

Think we are looking at a Thunder/Cavs final- which I am guessing won’t do well in the ratings- but true basketball fans will enjoy it.

I’m no NBA expert so someone help me out. If NYK blow a 3-1 lead to Detroit what are the chances Thibs is out and Hurley gets the offer? Can’t be 0% at this point. Time to start sweating again?

Well hopefully they keep him for at least the next 5 years. Danny isn’t turning that one down…

I want him to stay until Dan Hurley retires...Don't want the Knicks looking to Storrs if they fire Thibs

The NBA is just better when they let them play. As you say, it ups the animosity. It leads to more intensity and it leads to more incredible plays. The Knicks/Pistons, Nuggets/Clippers, and Wolves/Lakers look like they actually want to fight each other which has been missing from NBA basketball in recent years.
completely agree the level of the defense is
crazy
re the regular season it would be impossible to play with this level of intensity for 82 games

Hurleywouldn't mesh well with NBA players, not to mention the NY fanbase and the media. Jay Wright pretty content in retirement.

I'll tell ya who would be a great hire as the next Knicks HC and this might be a wild take but Luke Murray. His personality would mesh very with NBA players and media. There would be far more ball movement on offense. His father is a hero in NYC as a ghostbuster.

He's most likely fired after this playoffs. So you have Hurley coaching the Knicks next season?

Yes he is. He’s about to win his 3rd ring. He was never leaving for the nba it was a bargaining tactic and everyone knows it. After geno signed his new contract he joked that maybe he should’ve pretended he was going to Cleveland to get a better deal.

I didn't enjoy the regular season much but the first round has been awesome. Refs are letting them play and the shotmaking has been awesome. Two great games today between Knicks/Pistons and Wolves/Lakers.
Regular season was good in the west. East was a train wreck.

You always want your team to stomp on the other team's throat when they've got them down, and boy did the Celtics do that last night.

Brown got Banchero in foul trouble and then Tatum took over. Absolute beatdown in the second half. 73-40.

Banchero and Wagner are two good players, but neither can shoot it from 3, and as a team this season the Magic shot 32%, which is rather incredible in this day and age.

Hope you’re right brotha, but the yearly grind with retaining players plus portal and NIL nonsense may get tiresome after a while.

I brought this up a couple months back - I don’t think the Knicks have to lose this round for Thibs to get punted. I think if they skate by here and then get run by the Celts, he’s still out.

And yes, I think Hurley will get a call.

It's interesting because Thibs just got a 3 year deal last summer and most people thought he totally deserved it. NYK haven't really underperformed this year (assuming they finish off Detroit). They're just not the same level as Boston and Cleveland. For the record I am a Celtics fan but I am UConn first and foremost. I would be happy with NYK beating Boston if it meant job security for Thibs.
