NBA Finals: OKC v Indiana

McConnell going crazy now after the back to back turnovers looked like it was gonna blow the game open

That's 3 Achilles tears for star players in this playoffs. It's overuse
It’s strange - but I remember so few Achilles injuries back in the day. Isiah Thomas (the Bad Boys one) and Dominique Wilkins had them at the end of their careers in the 90s. Then Kobe at the end of his career. I’m sure it probably happened to some others I don’t remember. But back then “load management” wasn’t a thing. Everyone just played through pain and had shorter careers.

But Achilles ruptures seem like they’ve become much more common in the last 5-10 years. Part of me wonders about the extra emphasis on weight training and maybe that putting more strain on a lower leg tendon … which would almost be a metaphorical parallel to the original Achilles mythology (gaining extra powers but leaving one area vulnerable). But guys like Durant and Haliburton aren’t exactly bulked up.

Carlisle is too stuck on his rotations, its game 7, play your best players until they ask for a sub. No reason for both Siakam and Nembhard to be on the bench while the OKC lead is growing.

I think it is a matter of time before players start demanding minutes caps in contracts. GMs should do the same with coaches. This is why Thibodeau is no longer coaching the Knicks. No one wants to see KAT blow his achilles or knee out next March, but that is the path the Knicks were heading down if they brought Thibs back.

Don't forget Rudy Gay

Series was over when the Pacers fell apart game 4 at the end. Winner of that game was winning the series. Same goes for the Knicks Pacers series game 1 debacle.

Still would've been nice to see a healthy game 7.

Game is more spaced out than ever, alot of ground being covered by guys having to constantly chase 3 point shooters, putting alot of wear and tear on players

Re-watch some of those old time games. Players like Wilkins load managed by not playing defense in some games. Incidentally, Wilkins came back 100% from his achilles tear, and then there wasn't another full recovery until the last 10 years or so. Dominique Wilkins really was a freak of nature.

Mild complaint about officiating: There is too much grabbing being allowed. Refs should have called this a little tighter.

That’s just not true. Pacers have looked great and just bodied OKC last game. Series was over when their best player tore his achilles.

Congrats to OKC. Say what you want about foul baiting, boring, etc but they just won 68 games with a 30+ PPG MVP leading the way with a great surrounding cast. Dominant season

Jalen Williams and Chet are both eligible for extensions worth up to $50M a year. Next offseason, SGA is up for one up to $76M a year. That’s 80+% of the second apron for 3 players. Will be interesting to see how OKC plays this, especially considering they have a trillion draft picks

Yes they did and that would've been the series winner had they closed out game 4 at home instead of falling apart at the end.

A combined 9 points and 8 rebounds for Myles Turner the past two games. 22 rebounds for him over the last 6 games.

I don't know why you keep repeating this when Indiana forced game 7 and were up 1 at halftime. If anything they lost it when Hali tore his Achilles.

SGA wearing his gold shoes around his neck. Pure capitalism.

I just read about this. OKC is a young team, but there was a bit of a “win now” feeling to this team because it is not clear how long a small market team can hold this roster together.

Because game 4 was the decider, Pacers were in position late in the fourth to close it out at home and they didn't. I expected the Pacers to force game 7 but home court matters.

What on earth are you talking about
Him and his father are first rate jerks. That is why his NBA players rated him most overrated. Congrats to OKC the best team! What a team win. JDub and Holgrem coming up big this game was huge.

OKC doesn’t win this title without guys like Caruso and Dort. They are the definition of players you hate playing against but players you love playing with.
