So let me get this straight....a Canadian is drafted #1 in the NBA draft and there is a reasonable chance that an American is about to be drafted #1 in the NHL draft (Seth Jones...the son of former NBA'er Popeye Jones). What is this world coming to?

I still remember the US making the quarterfinals of the World Cup, advancing further than Italy or Argentina - and then Italy and Argentina played for the next gold medal in basketball.

Once that happened, we were through the looking glass.
