NBA announcer to call men's & women's Olympic hoops games

Long-time Warriors announcer Bob Fitzgerald will be doing play-by-play for men’s and women’s basketball for NBC Sports at the 2012 London Olympics.​

Fitzgerald, who just completed his 15th season with the Warriors on the TV side, said he will be working the men’s games with Doug Collins and the women’s games with Ann Meyers. Craig Sager will be doing the sideline reporting.​

Meyers. Sigh.​

Yeah, there are only about 256 more capable analysts than Meyers. And none of them self-promote the way she does.. I think she has connections with NBC.

I hope Fitzgerald does his homework for the women's games. One of the things I very much appreciated about Mike Gorman calling Sun games was that he always obviously prepared himself for every game just as well as he does for Celts games. That's the kind of genuine respect that wbb rarely gets in big sports media.

Part of the problem is that almost all of the analysts work for ESPN. The Olympics are on NBC.
