Today is the first day for the early signing period. #2 class behind Duke.

2. CONNECTICUT HUSKIES

The class: Braylon Mullins, Darius Adams, Eric Reibe and Jacob Furphy.

Bossi's take: Not that Dan Hurley cares all that much about about recruiting rankings, but Connecticut is starting to experience a real bump in the level of player that they attract due to being back-to-back National Champions.

Arguably the top shooter in the senior class, Mullins is a perimeter sniper with deep range and good athleticism. He's also a competitor on the defensive side of the ball. Although Mullins is the lone five-star in the class, Adams and Reibe are knocking on the door of five-star status.

Adams is a polished wing scorer. Reibe is a big man who has the size to anchor the paint to go along with the skill to face-up and shoot it. An import from Australia, Furphy is a play-making wing who should be able to play multiple positions.

Most importantly, these are all grinders who fit the ethos of Huskies.

National signing day which obligates the signee to go through the formality of asking "permission" to re-open their recruitment.

It is a shame that it is going away.

In one of the other threads there were some posts saying the Big East isn't very good this year and the recruiting is down. This article highlights the 2025 recruits in each conference. Considering how many teams are in the B1G and SEC the Big East stacks up decently. Of course that is mostly due to UConn, but Butler and Marquette have top 15 classes. There are also a lot of uncommitted top 100 guys (21 of the top 100 players on 247Sports) still available so all this could change by May.

Big East recruiting is fine. On the court....oof.

Signing day is basically meaningless now.

There will still be a signing day. Just a different agreement.

Established in 1964, the NLI program has existed as the formal, binding agreement between prospective athletes and college programs for the past 60 years. The NLI will be replaced by a new financial aid agreement that will provide many of the same core functions as the NLI and will likely be tied to a contract related to an impending revenue-sharing model across college athletics.

Exciting that 2 of our recruits are signing, but also signing a NLI is meaningless

Will it have more binding power (a bad thing) or will it be largely a ceremonial day to drum up something to talk about?

i thought Adams was a 5* did his ranking drop? Reibe should be a 5* too

"Furph's gonna be a fan favorite. He's going to be someone that UConn Nation is going to fall in love with. His toughness, his competitiveness, his skill and his mentality…he's a dog."

No more NLI. All recruits now sign aid agreements instead. Not sure what is in there as opposed to a NLI.

Welcome to UConn Darius, Eric, Jacob and Braylon. I hope you guys have great careers at uconn and a good future after UConn

"Yeah, they bring the shooting," Hurley noted, "but I think all three of those guards are underrated in terms of their ability to facilitate and get in the paint and create. I think they're all kind of like combo guards, and that's kind of the way we like to play it: putting (out) a bunch of bigger guards that can play on ball, off ball, make 3's, create in the paint."

Pretty sure that all three of the stateside recruits are considered 5* by one recruiting service or another

Adams and Mullins yes, Reibe no. I know "5 star" sounds cool but it doesn't matter. They all have arbitrary cut offs between 5 stars and 4 stars. So who cares?

UConn builds off back-to-back national championships

Dan Hurley has a pretty good sales pitch on the recruiting trail these days: Compete for national championships while developing into an NBA player. And he has the trophies and draft picks to back it up. It's paid off to the tune of a top-three recruiting class in the country, with three top-25 commitments in the fold: Darius Adams (No. 19), Eric Reibe (No. 23) and Braylon Mullins (No. 24), as well as skilled Australia native Jacob Furphy.

This is the first time since the ESPN recruiting database started in 2007 that UConn signed multiple top-25 recruits in the same class. The Huskies have now landed 10 ESPN 100 prospects over the past three classes.
